The number of people who would happily subscribe - with a better interface - is large. The fee some would willingly pay for the crossword seems to be more than the subscription for the whole paper. @the-independent.com

Yes, the Inquisitor is a good example of how a crossword can draw and keep a solver to a paper. The Indy daily puzzle is different to the others, and does the same.

To some extent, mycrossword took a number of what would have been rookie corner puzzles, but its success does mean some puzzles by newer setters might get a bit lost in the many puzzles. they would benefit from going here.

Sad news that The Independent is to stop its Cryptic Crossword in November, barring a last minute change of heart. It has forged its own distinct identity and will leave a great hole. Particular credit to Mike for introducing so many new great new setters to the professional ranks.

usually indicators are present tense, so Red wine covers seafood is ok, with an implied that. Red [that] wine covers. sauced would have to be adjectival or past tense, and as an adjective it is difficult to form that into an instruction. (i presume you want to trick the solver, not the setter!)
