This week has been an adventure in juggling spreadsheets and figuring out how to have 2-3 people be in 5-10 places at the same time for the start of 30-50 classes each day over 10-12 hours... We're getting our steps in and my knees are feeling it. 🏃‍♀️📊🏃‍♀️🗓️🏃‍♀️🕕🏃‍♀️ 😮‍💨
9 classes starting at 6pm!
5 classes starting at 4pm, 4 today only

I forgot until the end of the day (a very long day running around trying to fix all the things) I'd chosen these socks today. I only verged on expressing this emotion once in a meeting today, though it may have been simmering at other times. I'll take that as a win, I guess?

Here are my goofy lovelies, their joys are helpful to behold.
A grey tabby cat sprawls off of a lap, one paw curled and the other outstretched above her head, with her gaze focused off to the sideA black and white tuxedo cat with golden eyes is stretched out on a towel staring inquisitively into the camera, looking very relaxed

I definitely laughed at this last weekend:
A person wears a cardboard hat crafted to look like a cybertruck with flames coming from multiple locations and labels with "recall" and 8647, in the midst of a crowd marching with signs.

Thanks to regular reports on the progress of the cherry blossoms in Chicago's Jackson Park by @ericallixrogers.com, we had a lovely hanami picnic today - it will get busier as more of the trees reach full bloom, but it was sunny and quiet today and we had a great time.

It's strange celebrating anything happening in politics, but I love the way @booker.senate.gov is giving credit to the hard work his staff did to prepare for today, the clarity with which he is continuing to stick to the point and invite anyone of any party to step up too
Senator Cory Booker giving credit to John Lewis as he approaches the deadline to overcome the record of the longest filibuster against civil rights as he calls out the horror and chaos we've been facing

It took a while but I got the photo I wanted this evening! And in the meantime I got to listen to the birds and watch for budding plants and enjoy two young cats experiencing a bit of sensory overload, but in a good way
A grey tabby cat with a white streak on her nose and a white bib sits beneath two blooming daffodils in the garden, her eyes and ears alert, with the stair railing and lattice in the background.

The way I cackled! I recently moved and pondered whether or not I should get rid of these books because I've never read them, then decided to tuck them into the back corner of a shelf just in case... They were an impulse buy years ago.

I am grateful for a quick & easy dinner using leftovers. I also enjoy the journey of a Korean dish flavored with an American condiment that's a distant descendant of a sauce from Southeast Asia. Ham + cheese in fried rice, topped with omelette and all doused with ketchup - omurice / omeu-raiseu

I'm lucky this is not my problem...
As I sit cross-legged in bed wearing a floral skirt, a grey tabby cat lays on her back in my lap with her head nestled against my ankles, her white belly fluff showing. She's purring but you can't hear it in the photo. 😸

LOL... no judgement here... My only excuse is my brother shouldn't have bought me such a nice sharp knife... I swear the garden potluck didn't have blood in it, but that was mostly due to quick first aid.

I guess this is now my go-to fall dish to share, brought it to two potlucks this weekend after also making it for a barbecue not long ago. I definitely plan to make it again and to make more recipes from the source, Isabel Eats blog: www.isabeleats.com/calabacitas-...

I've had this can of maple flavored Spam floating around my pantry for a bit - highly recommend pan frying it, as shown in this recipe from Eric Kim's Korean American cookbook. Not sure about figgy pudding spices, though! That sounds more challenging.

Since I'm using a drawing from my brother for my avatar, here's something that may be more recognizable for those who have met me offline now and then. Also my adorable roommates.
Emily leans into the top left of the photo, with two cats looking towards the camera on the other side of the image. A black tuxedo with a white nose, Nellie Bly, leans forward from the top of the mesh toy bin while a sleepy grey tabby, Lina, is further back on the level below cuddled in blankets with a yellow banana toy.

Mid November, 2024 - time to try a different sort of social media platform and see if it's as useful as the other ones once were.
A maple tree still covered in green and golden yellow leaves is brightly lit with white fairy lights for the winter holidays on a dark Chicago street downtown.
