In the last few years there have been numerous incidents of people getting cut off by the sea at the base of cliffs. Always check tide times before walking along beaches and stay away from the base of cliffs. www.tidetimes.org.uk/

Supervise children and pets at all times on or around chalk cliffs, and keep well away from the edge and base. In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard #BeCliffAware

Don’t gather at the base of cliffs for shade, or if the rest of the beach is busy. Chalk can and does fall from above without warning, and you will be in danger of getting crushed or trapped! Cliff falls happen much more often than people think #BeCliffAware

Some beaches are only accessible during low tide. Once the sea comes in, you could end up stuck. Always check tide times tidetimes.org.uk

The views of our coastline are breath-taking, but don’t let them be your last. Stay away from the edge and base of cliffs as they do crumble, crack and fall without warning. #BeCliffAware
