We keep asking what children need to learn next: financial education, online safety, climate change and more. All worthwhile. But Mary Jo Hill thinks there's a harder question about the curriculum that we keep avoiding.

What happens when the media becomes part of the problem? This Wednesday, Cambridge professor Priyamvada Gopal joins Mike Galsworthy, Nafez Ahmed and Impress CEO Lexie Kirkconnell-Kawana to ask what better media could look like. Bylines Network webinar. Book below 👇
Graphic advertising Bylines Network’s “Towards a better media” livestream webinar on Wednesday 21 October, 7–8.15pm. Speakers are Nafez Ahmed, Lexie Kirkconnell-Kawana, Priyamvada Gopal and Mike Galsworthy. The graphic includes a QR code and booking link.

Text says:

We rely on journalism to question those in power, reveal truths, and help us to understand the world. At its best, it protects democracy, dispels disinformation and exposes authoritarianism.
But what happens when the media becomes part of the problem? Who holds it to account, keeps it ethical, and stops it from propagating hate or harm? How can we build a better version?
Join us for a vital conversation about the media Britain needs – and what it will take to get there.

The biggest constraint on solar development may not be farmland at all. It’s the electricity grid. Projects need connections with enough capacity, which is why proposals cluster around substations and transmission corridors. A perfect solar site is useless if the grid cannot take its power.
