Starting August 25, 2026, network operators will have a new way to submit StationXML metadata to the EarthScope-operated NSF National Geophysical Facility. This approach uses a new Dropoff System now currently in use for miniSEED submission. Read more ➡️ loom.ly/SjlbObk

Detecting flash floods while they’re still trickles is essential for early warning of the growing threat. A new study uses NSF NGF instruments and facilities to demonstrate how Distributed Acoustic Sensing can pick up signals from these initial flows. Read it here: doi.org/10.1785/0220260087

Borehole strainmeters can detect aseismic Slow Slip Events (SSEs), but these events’ subtle fingerprints are difficult to pick out. A new study uses NSF NGF data & tools to develop a machine learning algorithm fine-tuned to pinpoint SSE signals. Read it here: doi.org/10.1038/s41467-026-74095-9
