Indirect long-term impacts of flooding like those on human respiratory health are often overlooked. In our recent paper, we presented a framework to evaluate new symptoms of human respiratory health in residential buildings after major flood events. doi.org/10.1016/j.jc...

I'm honored to be selected as a Danfoss Faculty Fellow by FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. Also congrats to my PhD student Ahmed Mohamed for being named a Danfoss Graduate Fellow through this fellowship. We'll evaluate the impact of weather hazards on human health in commercial buildings.

Aging US dams face increasing overtopping risks due to changing hydrologic conditions. A study in Nature Communications evaluates 33 dams using updated frequency analysis and identifies six dams with the greatest probability, posing risks to downstream populations. go.nature.com/3IMV4xH 🧪
This is figure 4, which shows the location of dams that were categorized as the critical overtopping probability (i.e., not very low) in more than half of the 21 30-year windows and the most recent time window (1993–2022).

New grant! Happy to announce that my NASA proposal was selected for $450,00 funding. I’ll lead this grant and in collaboration with Michigan State University & NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, we’ll explore the role of soil moisture and watershed characteristics on river flood attributes.
