This is a fantastic idea. I’ve been polluting my oatmeal with butter, brown sugar, raisins, soy milk, and whatever fresh fruit is in the house. Adding chutney would be like eliminating the middleman.

Teri and I have been watching a cat for a neighbor. She is just the cutest little thing. This morning she jumped on my lap after I feed her, and stayed there purring for a good 20 minutes. I suspect she would have stayed all day if I let her. I present you with Fiona, a perfectly cromulent cat.

The punitive approach to foreign policy is overrated. I can’t think of a single instance where one country bombed another country into submission that didn’t also include a full scale invasion. It’s high time we realized that this is a bullying tactic which only leads to shame and animosity.

I first heard about The Mars House from Jo Walton’s reading list at Reactor. She said just read it, so I did. I absolutely adored this book. I wish I’d know about it in 2024 when it came out. Let me tell you why it’s so amazing. It starts like a lot of SF books out now. It’s got that murky

I finished a book this weekend that was just so amazing I had to share. Proto by @laurainparis.bsky.social weaves together the latest knowledge in anthropology, linguistics, and genetics, to tell the story of how one proto language (Proto-Indo-European) came to dominate so much of the world.

Knife skills. In the summer months we do frozen waffles rather than pancakes for our Saturday brunch. I like peanut butter and apple on mine. It hard to get apple to stay while you eat. Cutting in small pieces helps. So does a little honey on top. This was an experiment in cutting. It worked well.

A Fuji apple diced into small pieces in a bowl. A square core remains as do two rounded slices that are mostly skin.

Over the forth I took a photo in my in-laws back yard, and was shocked how much it looked like something from Gregory Crewdson. A little color tweaking and some light retouching was in order, but that's it.

Woke up this morning just before the alarm went off after the Best Dream Possible. There wasn't one thing that made it so great, it was a whole bunch of silly things. What I remember most was the warm expansive vibe of it. A nice house, my family, and a feeling of that it can go on forever.

Was putting up these star decorations on our house and had an extra star. Already had solid colors for red, white, and blue, so I started playing around with a few ideas. Brown background represents the house color. Which one do you like? We ended up going with the flag design.

This is a box of stars. With any luck I’ll get them glued together, painted or stained, and on the house before the 4th. 10 stars in total, each made of five pieces, and in 2 different sizes. In total over 260 cuts with a miter saw.
