Ok, I finally managed to build my own FPV ground drone from a Pico W, an arducam, and Lego parts. Everything is wireless and powered by 9 AA batteries! As usual, I'll write an article and publish the whole code (both embedded and backend are 100% #rust).

There's a fun bug in the #gemini chat. It sometimes ends its answers with what looks like leaking HTML, eg `</K,></K,>`. I just understood that the chat is "closing" what it interprets as opening tags, in Rust code which goes like `HashMap<K, V>`.
The end of a Gemini answer, with </K,></K,>

#LLM companies, especially #Anthropic, are playing a dangerous game with adaptative thinking. If they become stupid when the question looks simple, their value drops. Reliability beats medium quality. Here, Claude Sonnet 4.6 thinks 20 < 69 < 54.
My question to Claude:

In a Kapla Binary Tree, the cost of adding a new level is exactly twice the cost of the previous level addition.
A construct in Kapla, looking like a binary tree, with 3 levels and 21 Kapla.

Naming unconsistencies in Rust are one of the main reasons I always have to look in the documentation. Why isn't it called push_slice ? Why ?
A table comparing the way a &str is pushed to a String (with push_str) and the way a &[u8] is pushed to a Vec (with extend_from_slice).

Random #rust tip: Did you know that by hitting ctrl-j you can see the list of jobs and their bindings in #bacon ? BTW this menu is customizable and I had totally forgotten about it to the point I pondered about adding the feature...

Interesting approach. When derives don't fit the line, I would prefer being able to do this but it doesn't play well with rustmt unfortunately:

Crates.io download *can* provide insight. Guess which #rust crate is used mostly at work and which one is also used on side projects.
The download graph of two crates: bacon and lazy-regex. The one of lazy-regex differs by having almost no downloads on week-ends.

Type inference in #rust isn't always obvious
How is it even possible in 2024 that a social network doesn't allow embedding code ?

Parsing enums in #rust is so much cleaner and easier to maintain with regex_switch. Yes I'm bragging but also you should really use lazy-regex ( github.com/Canop/lazy-r... ).
Some rust code:
- an enum, with some variants holding fields
- a FromStr impl based on the regex_switch! macro

I'm adding the regex_switch! macro to lazy-regex: a switch like alternation with variables declared from the named capture groups. Of course all regexes are lazy static and checked at compile time. Feedback welcome. github.com/Canop/lazy-r... #rust #regex
A screenshot of some code, an example of using regex_switch!, which is also (as text) in the linked PR.

I just released version 2.15.0 of bacon, the #rust background compiler. It's quite major but the little change I want to promote is a more helpful --help with main shortcuts and examples. dystroy.org/bacon/
