It was straightforward in a lot of ways and unimaginably obtuse in others. The respect I have for developers has grown even stronger.

Also, I coded this website entirely from scratch with basically zero knowledge (and one person to ask for occasional sanity checks after bashing my head against walls and search engines for several hours). It's simple, but I'm proud of it. Please enjoy the fruits borne from my suffering. 🙇

Yeah! That's a slab of selenite (not to be confused with satin spar which is often sold as selenite but is a different form of gypsum). It's really pretty and looks like ice, but I have to be careful when taking things on/off because I'm allergic and it burns my fingers if I touch it too much, lol.

My birthday presents to myself. 💜 Should I have taken these pictures in natural light? Probably. Did I remember until the sun had already gone down? ...No.

A selection of small mineral specimens on top of a slab of selenite with a signed cheki of the Vtuber Crimzon Ruze as a backdrop (both were already owned). The blue mineral is hemimorphite, the two dark green ones are dioptase (VERY gemmy irl, hard to photograph since I waited til the sun had already gone down), and the light green one is prehnite! The little black one is some psinomelane that was included as a gift with purchase.

As we enter the final stretch of 2026, it is time once again for the Gunpla Ball Drop! Now in its 5th year, the Gunpla Ball Drop is the year-end community group build where model making enthusiasts create unique Ball or Ball-like creations, and post them on New Years Eve... A Ball Drop if you will! This is a casual event to cap off a year in the hobby with your fellow builders.

Every year there's also an extra theme, more on that in the next slide.

This Year's theme is Ball vs Guntank

Gundam fans in Japan have a New Years tradition of posting Guntanks, they call it "Guntank Day" because "gantan" (New Years Day) sounds close to Guntank. So in the spirit of international exchange and jolly cooperation, we're pitting balls and tanks against each other!

Pick a side and create a ball or a guntank (or anything thematically close to a ball or guntank) and fight for New Years Supremacy! The side with the most entries gets bragging rights for an entire year.

Thank you all Ball Droppers Past and Present that have made this such a positive and fun event.
