I'm not a dog person but I'll make this one exception.

Hiked the Byrds Creek Loop at Cumberland Mountain State Park today, around 3 miles. A little shorter and less complicated than the Pioneer Loop I did a couple of weeks ago. Lots of interesting scenery, and you're never really far from the camping area or the road.

There's a lot of neat rock outcroppings (including a small squeeze on the full loop) and little waterfalls. Lots of water on the trail (the day after a storm) and at least one creek crossing. Definitely want waterproof shoes with good tread.

There were a few of these that flowed across the trail to Byrd Lake/Byrd Creek, so you had to cross along wet ground.A bridge along one side creek, heading back towards the Bear Trace golf course.

Hiked the Pioneer Loop at Cumberland Mountain State Park Saturday. The full loop's about a 5.5 mile walk, but there's a 2 mile short loop. More eventful that I'd have liked. Slipped on the suspension bridge and somehow fell on my pack in a way that I wasn't hurt; saw a black snake along the trail.

Next, hiked the ~2 mile Black Mountain overlook loop. Not too difficult--it runs around the top of a ridge--but the drive up is on a narrow curvy road.

Did some hiking today near Crossville, TN. (I put together a "to hike" map so I've got some long-term goals without going to the same places every time.) Ozone Falls, not far off I-40. Easy walk to the rim, short but rough climb down.

Just released Crown Jewel Heist, a short D&D 5e campaign for 3rd level characters, on @dmsguild.bsky.social. It throws your players into competing jobs between two rival syndicates, and gives them the freedom to draw up their own plan while working under pressure. www.dmsguild.com/product/4948...

Ran a D&D combat I'm kind of proud of tonight where the party and a small tribe of hags faced off in canoes/rowboats (attached mounts in Owlbear Rodeo). On a Move: STR (Athletics) check / 4, you have that many 15° turns and forward squares. DEX (Acrobatics) checks to jump gaps between boats.
