How has realism treated nationalism so far? This article reviews the realist literature on nationalism, with its tensions and gaps, before suggesting what a neorealist theory of nationalism would look like. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

South Korea’s nuclear debate is about more than North Korea and doubts about US protection. In this article, I argue that China’s rise, demographic decline, and multipolarity will push Seoul to consider nuclear weapons even with stronger US reassurances. www.inss.re.kr/en/publicati...

Democratization Should Not Be Great Power Competition’s Endgame
If Americans truly believe that liberal democracy is the superior model, they should not want China and Russia to have it.

Should great power competition with China and Russia aim to turn them into democracies? Democracy is unlikely to make Moscow or Beijing more friendly, but it might make them more powerful. That’s an issue anyone pondering the endgame of competition should take seriously.

When you are starting out in risk consulting, some of the hardest decisions have little to do with the analysis itself: when to deliver, when to turn down a project, and how to price your time. I wrote down three rules I wish more junior consultants learned early.

Three rules I would give new political-risk consultants: 1. Don’t rush 2. Don’t overreach 3. Don’t underprice The analysis itself is only part of consulting. You also need to manage delivery, expertise, and pricing. 1/5
