153. Secrets of the Silent Witch IV -after- (light novel) Featuring 4 vignettes and interludes between volumes IV and V. Nothing (too) life threatening but some cute side stories that add more color to Monica's school life. The 4th is especially sweet with more surprises than usual. #SilentWitch

Cover art for the book

Monica, wearing a deerskin cap, sits at a table haphazardly covered in books; Nero, her black cat familiar looking like a cat, wears a pointed mustache

Black and white Illustration from the book

An angry white rabbit bites a shocked Monica's hand, her friends watch, unsure how to respond

Character info for Monica

The Silent Witch of the Seven Sages. In this book, she mastered thimble use, thread-knotting, and French knots. She was previously scraping by with flat knots.

There was another illustration I wanted to share but it felt like too much of a spoiler for a very sweet moment between friends

152. Secrets of the Silent Witch IV (light novel) It's the long awaited school festival and ball, so of course Monica needs to deal with lost magic items, helping old ladies, and poisoning once again. More Cyril focused after so much Felix but we see Monica isn't an unfeeling machine. #SilentWitch

Cover art for the book

Felix, the blond prince of the kingdom, sits at his student council president desk reviewing paperwork while Monica and Cyril stand behind him at either side near the ornate windows

Color illustration from the book

147. Secrets of the Silent Witch, Vol. 1 (light novel) I really enjoyed the anime when it aired, but Monica is so uncool, I love her. I thought I heard Louis was even worse in the books, but nothing specific really stood out. Covers episodes 1-4

Cover art for the book

A frail looking 17 year old girl wearing robes with gold trim and messy brown braids holds out an ornate staff and a finger up to her lips; a black cat hangs off her shoulder

Cover art for the novel Yuki is sitting on a lavish red sofa with her legs crossed, wearing an outfit and extremely wide brimmed hat reminiscent of French royalty and holding up a rapier

Games: Teacher's Melancholy and Royal Palace (pictured)

Text from the novel

(39/48) Tamamo despised herself. She couldn’t recall when exactly she started hating herself, but she didn’t think she had always felt that way. Perhaps it had been a result of her piano teacher in elementary school bullying her to no end, or maybe her failure to build relationships in middle school had left a lasting mark. She neither remembered nor wished to think back on it. Regardless, once she became cognizant of her feelings, it was like it had always been that way. Even though there was nothing particularly unpleasant about her life, she felt endlessly repulsed by her own state of being. It was part of her nature, beyond help. As Tamamo grew up, her feelings of self-loathing turned into more than a simple mental issue. The world was rather strange, in that people who loved themselves would be blessed
