Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Did you know she was in a movie with Ruth Ellis, last woman hanged in Britain? I just found that out and it’s bizarre. 010

Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Yeah, it’s being rewritten so that it’s a more positive story with people being visionary. 000
Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 03/10/2026It strikes me as filler. I’m guessing they had the shape of ending the whole series sketched out a good while ago, who has to die, which of the other characters from TOS we meet, when and how, etc. And then as ever tv execs said they wanted an additional series cos money, and lo and behold, pish. 210
Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The awkward fact that people don't talk about is that the thing that kicked off the regeneration of Manchester was the IRA blowing up the Arndale Centre. 110
Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The Welsh D'Hondt system used additional member constituencies so they were double suzed. Pretty pointless. Scot parliament constituencies are better sized. 000
Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 01/10/2026The UK already uses the D'Hondt system in devolved nations. It is a good system, maintaining local links, and giving broad proportionality while keeping the most lunatic fringes out. The commission should take very serious consideration of the experiences from devolved nations but I doubt it will. 100

Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 24/09/2026That's not Burnham. Or his govt. What has been done about the group encouraging the action to circumvent law and order? And to prevent the RNLI from operating? 010
Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 24/09/2026He said some things a fortnight ago. What has he actually done? There are organised groups attempting to prevent the rule of law and stopping emergency services from operating. What has he and his govt actually done? 010

Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 15/09/2026The difference with inheritance tax is its seen as a tax on assets rather than transactions. Our system prefers to tax transactions (wages, purchases, etc) and leave assets alone, and although most people couldn't actually identify and express that, I think subconsciously it's how it's viewed 010

Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 11/09/2026But equally the listening, learning etc was facilitated by tech: streaming, sharing, online tutorials etc. And our history of great bands is very much dependent on failed arts students 😂 010
Donald @dwmacleod.bsky.social · 11/09/2026This can’t be an either or. ROI for high tech funding is higher than for the arts, but the roi for the Irish basic income for artists is about the same rate as HS2! However, what did we all reach for when lockdown happened? Arts of all forms, watching, listening, learning. Cont/ 140
