I'm in the office right now. In the apartment above ours lives a family of professional musicians who also teach. At the moment, there is the faint sound of a violin playing In Dreams / The Shire by Howard Shore, which reminds me that it will be time for my annual LotR rewatch soon.

For a company that claims to have a "Costumer Obsession," it always has been a truly awful customer experience that made everyone's lives miserable. This little screenshot alone shows how little they actually care about their customers: The button says "Behalten deine Mitgliedschaft," when it […]

Finally did something I should've done years ago: cancelled my Prime subscription.

@christen Huh, I actually enjoy the fact that I know 0 people on here in person. Makes me feel like earlier internet times. And for my personal sanity I just try to assume that the people I'm interacting with are indeed people and not clankers.

Okay, after a week of lurking and somewhat soft-launching myself into the sunny.garden, I guess it's time for a proper #introduction to you wonderful people. Im Dave, I live in Germany, and like so many others these past days I came here from the forkiverse. I already appreciate the vibe here in […]

Detail on an ornamental urn: a stone face holding garlands with its mouth. The whole thing has a slightly weathered texture and mossy overgrowth.

My debut entry for #doorsday is this entryway to the Oldenburg tourist information in Germany. Please mind the potted ornamental kale on both sides of the door. #doorsday #photography #kale

RE: sunny.garden/@wess/1173562033668492… This is a great idea! Would be interesting to see where everyone is now, who originally joined the forkiverse. So, everybody out there, if you are an ex-forkizen, give us a toot! #exforkizen #forkiverse #theforkiverse

@Alsy I see, what a pity. I would have expected Sydney or Melbourne to at least have lively contemporary art scenes, though. How about other genres? Theatres, concerts and the like?

@Alsy That's true, and in Munich we're actually blessed with quite a lot of them. But you must have museums in Australia, too, don't you?

@d0_ob No German word for that, that I know of at least. But I can tell you that many Germans are extremely fond of their tupperware none the less. And the process of putting food into a container for later consumption actually hase a word: eintuppern. Btw, if you don't speak German, you […]

@Alsy I've been running for years now and at times, especially on 10+K runs, I do have a sense of elation that can feel really great. But I neither rely on it for identity nor community (I actually run because it's exercise I can do on my own), so maybe I will never fully appreciate what these […]
