The macOS calendar widget is probably the most useless thing to exist in an operating system. Need to quick check which date the first weekend of next month falls on? Too bad loser, open the entire calendar app.

I want nothing more than to play hide and seek in a big office with my friends

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 23/09/2026

Half the time there are even typos in the text they put on the video for the headline. It's just so insanely unprofessional.

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 23/09/2026

My biggest issue with current "independent" reporters with larger audiences is that they use AI captioning software for their videos, but they don't proofread them. Half the words end up being incorrect and sometimes even contradict the words being spoken.

Big fan of buildings lately

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 23/09/2026

I'll also say it took a lot of therapy to work through my anxiety. I was absolutely not able to do this 10 years ago when I was fresh out of college 😅

000

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 23/09/2026

It's not 100%, but if you find the right place with the right people, you'll get there! I also go to cars and coffees regularly and started seeing the same people at different events and eventually strike up conversation

200

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 23/09/2026

Nah, I'm definitely not one of those people. I started going to the same coffee shop at the same time once per week and it's the same person working each time. We learned each other's names and now I feel like I'm part of the community. Just takes consistency and being friendly tbh.

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 22/09/2026

The fastest (and my favorite) way to feel like part of a community is to become a regular somewhere. Just show up on a regular basis and you'll inevitably meet people

I made multiplayer Windows 98 Solitaire. It's called Solitaire Alone Together. You can play together, with the whole internet, but you can't chat or talk. solitairealonetogether.com

We ended up rearranging our place a bit. My desk is now in the office/craft room where I have a window next to me looking out at a few trees and our living room suddenly feels 2 times larger 🙂

No one tells you that living in the suburbs means listening to leaf blowers every waking minute. Is a moment of peace and quiet so much to ask for?

Last weekend I was sick, this weekend it's raining. I'm in need of activities and the universe is working against me.

030

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 18/09/2026

it's finally the time of year where I can sit outside and get cold enough so that coming in and getting cozy under a blanket is 1000x more enjoyable than normal

I was hoping to get to OverMountain this weekend, but couldn't swing it. Ended up getting a media pass for LSPR next month though!

Whenever I manage to convince myself that it is okay to relax and play games, I get into a paralysis of not being able to choose a game to play

Certain laws for safety features on cars are ridiculous. I can't program my car to let me close the windows with the remote because of a safety law 🙄

000

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 13/09/2026

Denying an app access to your contacts is utterly useless, because if someone has your contact in their phone and they allow access, your information gets broadcast anyways 🙄

I have now learned that official bandcamp Friday is a once per month event. My bad 🥴

That looks great! More miata work?

I can't speak for other map apps, but Google Maps is hilariously bad at parking garages

I love how many Michigan references are in season 2 of severance

Does anyone have any recommendations for nice looking but still functional weather apps on Android?

001

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 04/09/2026

Found it! But yep, this was in October of 2015 at a small venue in Grand Rapids, MI!

You may have heard ESO’s great-looking Warden Refresh got delayed. You may not have heard who was among those bringing it to life. Christina Cornett, Senior Concept Artist, worked on the storyboards, and Vincent Wong, Senior Animator, worked on the animations. Microsoft laid them off on July 6

Power came back on at about midnight last night, and there's another storm blowing through right now. The lights have flickered. Partner and I made coffee and breakfast as soon as we woke up before it goes out again 😅

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 03/09/2026

Just had some tornado warnings up in Michigan, be safe!

I love bitwarden, and it's open source/self-hostable!

Still no power and there's another storm on the way. DTE gave back $241M in dividends last quarter btw

020

Dustin @dustycode.dev · 03/09/2026

It's pretty much a guarantee that if there will be severe weather, we will be without power, yet rates keep going up and nothing ever gets fixed. Thanks DTE, I love having publicly traded utilities 🫩

Oh I gotta pick that back up. I started it earlier this summer and then got real into mistria
