The Careers in Botany Panel fills up every year, and #Botany2026 is no exception. The panel is at capacity, but we want to introduce the ten botanists giving their time to talk with students and postdocs about how they built their careers. Sunday, Aug 2, 3:30 to 5:00 pm
Promotional graphic for the Botany 2026 Careers in Botany Panel, Sunday, August 2, 3:30 to 5:00 pm, in Tucson Salons E-F. Ten panelist photos are arranged in a grid of two rows. Top row, left to right: Dr. Dustin Wolkis, a bearded man in a patterned shirt standing among tropical foliage; Dr. Laura Lagomarsino, a woman in a colorful floral-print blouse; Dr. Felipe Zapata, a man in a dark jacket in front of a brick building; Dr. Molly Edwards, a woman in a mustard-yellow dress standing beside a tall blooming corpse flower; and Dr. Ross McCauley, a man in a red shirt and cap standing in tall green vegetation. Bottom row, left to right: Dr. Jessamine Finch, a woman in a green shirt among leafy branches; Annica Wu, a woman with long dark hair standing beneath a fruiting tree; Dr. Israel Borokini, a man in a denim jacket and light blue shirt; Dr. Courtney Murren, a person in a white knit hat holding a field notebook in a grassy pine savanna; and Marlene Hahn, a woman in an olive-green shirt. At the bottom left is the Botany 2026 logo, a circular illustration of a Sonoran Desert landscape with saguaro and barrel cacti, reading "Biodiversity at the Boundaries, Botany 2026, August 1-5, Tucson, Arizona." Text at the bottom right reads: "The Careers in Botany Panel is an annual event where panelists introduce students and postdocs to the range of career paths available in botany, spanning academia, conservation, government agencies, and industry."

Karolina Heyduk, taking a selfie on fieldwork. She is in a dry landscape with brown, parched vegetation. Above is a strikingly blue sky. She is looking into the camera, wearing a cactus-themed top, a light brown sun hat and sunglasses. In one lens of the sunglasses is a reflection of her hand taking the selfie. I've remembered I'm colour-blind, so take any references to brown with a pinch of salt.
