Jacky's Café! #EarthBound Spotted in Halifax, NS. The unusual open sign next to it is giving me some Moonside vibes. I didn't make it in, but next time!

It's a good day. I think this is my 19th Fourth of July at Red Rocks. I've been making the journey to see Blues Traveler for their annual show here since 2004. I've missed three years, including 2020's covid cancelation, and never intend to miss another. This is one of my very favorite things.

At least now I guess I have a flagpole and a use for that PACE (PEACE) flag I bought on a school trip to Italy in 2003.

The photos of the CRT look horrible, and I'm kinda here for it. It's 100 miles to Fourside. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it.

30 years ago today, EarthBound was released in the United States. About a year later, in July of 1996, I finally got a copy of my own after renting it nearly nonstop. In a charming bit of serendipity, two days ago my grandmother unearthed a photo of me from the day I got it.

A 9 year old boy (me) grins widely while clutching the oversized box for the game EarthBound to his chest. There's a slight white imperfection in the bottom right corner of the box.

A 38 year old man (me) dressed in Ness cosplay (t-shirt with blue and yellow horizontal stripes, blue shorts, and a red ball cap) clutches the oversized box for EarthBound to his chest and grins. The same slight imperfection is visible in the bottom right corner of this box, too. In the background is an arcade style cabinet with a CRT TV showing the opening title of EarthBound. The cabinet is decorated with EarthBound stickers.

Planting day today. Got the hops cleaned up and two columnar apple trees in the ground.

Ok, well, I guess I'm doing this again. Let's hope the new battery holds out! Not quite a speed run, but I'll use what little's left of the day to try to catch up to the end of the Paula rescue. Also, like the missing save, she's Nancy and the dog's Kitty, as per my original game. #EarthBound

Ok, let's do this. And, it looks like this is actually this cartridge's first battery swap! I think that might mean this is actually the one I bought secondhand in 2005 rather than new in 1995, though I still have that one too. #EarthBound #SNES

I can't help but think that the "LIVE BEES" sticker on my mini toolbox I use at #CCDC raised a lot of questions that were already answered by the "LIVE BEES" sticker on my mini toolbox.

I'm so interested in the backstory that could exist here! In the "Earth loses the War Against Giygas" timeline, what sort of hero is Buzz Buzz? Was he always a bee-shaped thing? Was he someone we know in the series, and the bee form is required for the time travel to work? #EarthBound
