Been chasing an English equivalent for a Saudi proverb, hilm al-dhab'a, the hyena's dream. A prediction vague enough that every outcome proves it right. Closest I found is the Barnum effect and it isn't close.

A sunlit rocky outcrop in the Arabian desert under a clear blue sky, with weathered boulders stacked into tall shapes along the ridge and dry scrub at its base. Overlaid text reads The Hyena's Dream, a story from the Arabian desert, by Saleh Suliman at duneswhisper.com.

Read the writer before you read the story — his land, his geography. The meaning isn’t in the plot. It’s in the words he reached for to carry what was inside him. #Folklore #Storytelling #WritingCommunity

A wind-carved sandstone formation rising from the desert floor in Tabuk, northwest Saudi Arabia. Its top flares outward like a cresting wave above a narrow base, the sun breaking behind it. A smaller pillar stands to the left, distant mountains on the horizon.

Writing isn't always ambition. Sometimes it's just the quietest place I know. (We used to nap in this rock's shade while herding.) #amwriting #booksky

A tall split sandstone rock standing in red desert sand under a blue sky. We used to nap in its shade while herding camels and sheep.

Regrettably, the UAE is engaged in the illicit extraction of ancient and endemic trees from Yemen's Socotra Island. This practice is devastating a unique ecological sanctuary characterized by rare flora and botanical biodiversity found nowhere else globally.

The Pharaonic family influenced the art of the Saudi Arabian desert rock formations before moving to the land of the Nile. ——| Why didn't the Pharaohs borrow this design, like they borrowed the pyramid and the Sphinx?

Is it possible that the Pharaohs' settlement in the Saudi Arabian desert prior to their migration from the Arabian Peninsula influenced their artistic and engineering culture, specifically in the concept and philosophy of the composition and geometric shape (pyramidal) of the pyramids?
