Sharing the announcement that Coventry Biennial founder & Artistic Director founder Ryan Hughes is moving on to pastures new, & wishing him the best in his new role at South Square Centre in Bradford. 10 years & 5 festivals delivered, I feel super proud of what the biennial has brought to the city 🙌
Coventry Biennial Artistic Director Ryan Hughes speakers from a podium to a crowd gathered in a large gallery space. He is dressed smartly and holding a microphone in his hand. The faces of a gathered crowd in the backround look attentively towards him.

NEW: It was a digital lynching. And the media is never going to hold itself to account for the role it played in Jason Arday’s death. But there are things we can do. This is a practical guide based on my own experience. broligarchy.substack.com/p/a-digital-...

The Last Saeta: Literally the last saeta (a short flamenco prayer, literally meaning 'arrow' in spanish) sung by well-loved singer and tabernero Pepe Peregil, in the Plaza del Museo in Seville, during Easter Week 2011. He sings to the image of Christ, "The Giralda bends to her knees before you!"
An old man in the foreground is illuminated by the flash of cameras, in the darkness of a public square at night. He has his hand on the shoulder of a young lad who stands to one side of him, looking upwards towards something out of frame. The old man has his eyes closed, with a serious expression. His mouth is open in song.

Hearing that composer Alan Lamb passed away earlier this week. I remember reading an article in The Wire, I think maybe 1997 as I was studying Fine Art at the time, about his experiments with sound and wire. Night Passage, incredible work room40.bandcamp.com/album/night-...
