Imprint will premiere at Ann Arbor Film Festival on March 28. More to come on this project — it was fun to put letterpress in motion. Now back to printing!

𝒾Μᑭℝ𝒾ℕ𝐭 — a letterpress animation! I’ve been working on this 5min film since 2022, as the first big project in our newly expanded Walpurgis Press studio. Made w/ vintage metal type, found cuts, paper, watercolour, Vandercook SP-15 press, photos, and some digital tools.

An overhead photograph of a stack of paper, the top leaf with IMPRINT, each letter in a different font, printed over a halftone colour image of a boy and a woman standing outside glass doors. The stack of paper is surrounded by artists' tools like a paintbrush, paint pots, brayer, ruler, and metal letterpress type. An additional card reads "A handmade animated short by Duncan Major".

This monthly blog is a favourite of mine and I'm very grateful that Imprint is included in here in such interesting company.
