added the basically obligatory mess of wires to help cover up the chest parts where I didn't use some myrmidon armour, fill in a big neck gap, and integrate the armiger head better I always like the pseudo-organic looks it has, like exposed veins or spilling guts and intestines

Vashtorr in general seems like the ideal force to justify all my builds, the mechanical chaos (demi)god of invention and innovation. I've got ideas working him into my current admech, but I do eventually want to make an empowered god Vashtorr and darkmech forces to go with him

It's pretty obvious they're setting up Vashtorr to be the next big bad to set against Cawl, like Fabius was in genefather, and I'm happy he's finally getting expanded on more, but I still think he needs his own book (not counting whatever his arks of omen thing was)

Finished the Cawl Archmagos book, I do enjoy Cawl's jovial mad scientist attitude, especially his little interludes that are basically science lessons explaining whatever his current project is, though what most interested me were the Vashtorr parts (which were why I read it)

Armageddon Ancient I already have a few ancients so I tried to mix this one up by giving it a back standard with an impaled ork skull, inspired by one of the crusade ancient standard options, along with some extras like a stole and relic skull

making omnissian axes is quite fun and pretty fitting for bespoke techpriest gear I've mostly been able to build it thanks to leftover necron and manipulus bits from my scaevola's axe, and stuff I learnt/practiced while making my techmarine

Armageddon captain only a select few changes on the build like the powerpack servo skulls and parchment, but there's a few parts of the paint scheme I paid extra attention too, like the leg flames, cape, and the text, especially the chapter battlecry on the trailing parchment

hows this for a custom omnissian axe there's a manipulus' arm+staff base, a sicarian powerpack central piece, an upside down necron lynchguard blade, some 1.5mm plastic rod, a myrmidon gun barrel at the bottom and a duncrawler gun scope on top, plus more details to come later

but there's still plenty of parts too small for me to paint so I'm using transfers for shoulder chapter icons, small crusade badges, a thing on the captains knee, and chains on the banner something just looks so good about a properly applied decal with a nice matte finish

painting some of the smaller parts like eyes/optics, quartered tilt shield, cape, different sections of the banner and a flame pattern by most standards it's nothing crazy but it is a bit of a step up compared to what I normally do

And I'm not sure exactly how many I have now, they're my main marine army, and I build/paint kind of slow but have been at it for a few years now, at a rough estimate I've got somewhere around 80 templars of various ranks scattered around and in a few boxes

Thanks, I'm a big fan of doing things slightly differently, even down to unique individual variations, going all the way back to the classic Blanche art for the faction, a lot of the marines are different in their own way, and there's definitely leeway with crusade specific scheme/heraldry changes
