Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 17hI run the line quite a lot for my son’s team, and have done for as long as they’ve played the offside rule. One thing that’s noticeable is that some parents will complain heavily about tactics or whatever, but when asked to run the line they’re suddenly ‘I don’t really know the rules’. 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 18hOther politicians need to see what’s happening and react accordingly. While they pussyfoot around, scared to call Farage a liar, a traitor or point out his obvious and repeated ties to Russia, he’s happy to accuse anyone of lying so he comes across as decisive and puts everyone else on the back foot 083
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 14/10/2026Let’s see how quickly these players leave and are soon kissing the badges of other teams once City are declared impotent for the next few years. Right now they’ve got a siege mentality but that won’t last once they realise City are just two small boys in a trench coat pretending to be an adult. 100
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 13/10/2026I’m not trying to criminalise anyone. The players and the fans should be really angry with the club for cheating, but they seem to be revelling in it. The club will get a massive punching punishment and they will deserve it. Maybe the fans and players will realise they were cheated too. 100
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 13/10/2026So? They were using the offshore arrangement to disguise their expenses, just as they were using sham sponsorship deals to disguise their real commercial income. 100
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 13/10/2026I don’t know if this is Apple Podcasts or BBC that haven’t updated their graphics, but that ain’t Rutherford and Fostekew #Infinitemonkeycage 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 13/10/2026One of the managers did, he was getting paid twice, once for a sham job. But I don’t understand your point, the club cheated, enabling themselves to build a squad they never could have afforded otherwise. 200
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 13/10/2026The club cheated so they could get better players on the pitch, like a Sunday league club putting a bunch of ringers in for a difficult cup game. Doesn’t mean the players cheated but the effect is the same. 110
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Arsenal lived within their means for about 10 years because they were building a stadium and needed to save money. Man City looked at the rules and said ‘not for us’ 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 11/10/2026And the commentators are basically “Say what you like about Lance Armstrong and his copious drug use, he’s one hell of a cyclist” 1286
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 11/10/2026“Whatever the goings on at City, these players, with their £500,000 per week contracts, are just doing their jobs like any other player on a quarter of that money at other clubs” 010
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Look at Man City scoring with all these players they definitely bought with legitimate funds because they stopped boosting their finances illegally 8 years ago honestly. 010
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 11/10/2026The one that shocks me is that only 70% of the population is confident that werewolves definitely don’t exist. 100
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 10/10/2026What a shame, Tottenham are losing. Their r*pe-apologist manager must be very disappointed. 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I’ve literally never worn a costume to anything ever, although I think my daughter ordered some cat ears for a uni night out 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Are they basically just going to kick England constantly while the ref gives no yellow cards? 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 05/10/2026If you can’t work out the approximate start time from the advertised start time then that’s really a you problem 020
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I’m pretty sure that Beatles podcasts are the greatest podcasts ever made. Such diligence and resourcefulness, and a constant source of surprise and joy. 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Is there an argument for removing juries from complex financial crime trials? They can be extremely difficult to follow and the presence of a jury gives the defence the opportunity to use confusion as a barrier to the jury able to say ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 03/10/2026That’s true. And I also think that it’s valid to argue that if he were less of a cunt he would attract less hatred. But there’s a line between milkshake throwing or online criticism and actually plotting a terrorist attack. 100
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 03/10/2026That’s a very slippery slope. Yes, Farage is an awful man who says awful things, but going down the ‘you brought it on yourself’ route is not wise. 200
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Maybe he needs to accept the offer of security that the home office offered him. You know, the one that means his every move will be tracked, every meeting. 020
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 02/10/2026That’s absolutely mad - you could have a pitch that was 130 yards by 45 yards. It would be like playing in a corridor 110
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I suspect this didn’t happen because the people I know who work in hospitals witness plenty of racial abuse of the staff *while* helping patients, so don’t really need to have the antagonist outside the building. 020
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Early morning in limited light I once picked up a dark cushion from our sofa to chuck it onto a chair, only to find that it was not a cushion but our cat. 030
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 24/09/2026For clarity, many lawyers are super smart, with planet-sized brains. A significant number are not. 010
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I’ve worked with lots of lawyers over the years. Getting a law degree is certainly not a measure of intellect. 111
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Whether it’s in the UK or the USA or seemingly elsewhere, why do the centre / left allow the far right to set all the talking points. 020
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 19/09/2026He has to battle to impose himself on the defenders most of the time, so he is more likely to look like he’s fouling, whereas someone like Brobbey just stands there and makes himself the defender’s problem. 101
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 19/09/2026But he’s just not strong enough, he gets bullied too easily 110
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Genuinely not sure what those Arsenal subs are meant to change 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 19/09/2026We still feed our newest one separately because she eats slower than the others. Our biggest cat has worked out how to open the door to her room for MORE FOOD. 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 18/09/2026So Brighton, flying in the premier league, home to Arsenal. And it’s not allowed to be shown on TV in the UK. I realise there are ways around it, but the fact that I could legally (and cheaply) watch the game in almost any other country apart from the one it’s taking place in is absurd. 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Yeah, you’re right. The reason England haven’t won a major tournament in 60 years is because we needed Scott McTominey. 000
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Those conventions and norms were there, but definitely Sorkin’s version of the world is a moral president with moral staff. But that was a world in which Richard Nixon was still seen as historically crooked, and he effectively only got caught because he handed over the evidence when asked to. 100
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I’ve now listened to more versions of Take on Me before breakfast than ever before. Really interesting that they kept going with it, because there’s nothing in the original that says ‘could be a hit’ 1121
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 17/09/2026The West Wing would seem insane now. There is a whole episode where the press officer misspeaks slightly and the whole episode is just about the fall out from that. It’d be like watching Pride and Prejudice now, so quaint with all their traditions and standards and character. 100
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Similar to the way that the Welsh Reform leader was jailed for taking bribes to promote Russian propaganda, but no one actually noticed because he just said the same stuff the rest of the party was already saying. 021
Chris @dukeofprunes.bsky.social · 16/09/2026If this were just about slowing the market for me there would be unanswered questions, because regulation will not impact Chinese AIs, for example. 100
