this is definitely not a major issue for the quest, but i've been seeing it as a wider sales perspective where this is harder to market than having a facebook account, i don't get why this headset exists as it is, it's just old technology but Steam

it has the same account limitations as the quest, except from our rose tinted glasses as terminally online gamers we don't see that new customers have no fuckin idea what steam is and why they should make an account, just as we don't understand why we need a meta account to run a meta headset

it's a fine headset but it's not by any means groundbreaking and backtracks on years of development on OVR lighthouse tracking when they could've very easily kept going and built an *actual* all rounder headset that will not be rivalled. it's the HP Reverb G2 all over again. a great headset

there are better headsets for WAY less than the steam frame offers, even with mods and good stuff to make it a nice OVR compatible platform to work with, i don't get the hype over a quest 2.5 targeted at a market of nerds instead of meta's target of normies

the steam frame is a middle ground headset that is priced as the cream of the crop, i don't get the hype and i don't think it's anywhere near worth the money considering the completion around it. it's selling because of it's brand name rather than it's capability as a VR headset.
