Actually, we showed off PILA to a wider public at the Royal Danish Library for culture night in the Black Diamond in 2018. (That's a copy of PILA there on the desktop PC, and my colleague and current head of game preservation @tatsavitr.bsky.social in the background)

I can definitely recommend, just don't let it get out of hand...
A wall completely covered in DVDs, with more stacks visible in front of it, including one with just Tim Curry movies at the edge of a table.
Also four video game character plushies are visible atop the stacks: A loot bug from Deep Rock Galactic, a black hog from Figment 2, Car from What the Car, and Pixeline

It's not quite yuri (although they were roommates), but I also recommend checking out Kine-san no 1-ri de Cinema if you're into trash goblin women watching psychotronic cinema.
Page 1:
Panel 1: Text box reading "Once upon a time...". Behind it is a stack of VHS-tapes with labels of children's anime.
Panel 2: A family is sitting arond a kotatsu.
Panel 3: A woman is staring intently at her daughter.
Panel 4: The daughter is shaking a little and is annoyed and flustered.
Panel 5: The father ask: "So... What happened now?". A son is complaining about having to sit through this conversation before they get to eat.
Panel 6: The mother yells angrily while pointing accusingly at her daughter: "Can you believe this!? This girl pretended not to know how to set the timer to record TV shows, but after I set it up for her, she went behind my back and changed it!!". Behind them we're shown what happened as the daughter asked her mother to record a show for her on the family VCR, which she happily agreed to do.Page 2:
Panel 1: The father asks: "... Why would she do a thing like that?"
The mother loudly answers "Because she wanted to hide these disgusting movies she's not allowed to watch! That's not why I bought her those tapes!". The daughter is pouting with a stack of tapes in front of her. The background has the titles of many classic US horror movies such as Child's Play, Alen, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Panel 2: The mother continues: "This cunning little girl lied to me!!". The panel shows the daughter innocently asking if the mother will buy her a pack of recordable VHS tapes, so she can record Yaougo Ruga.
Panel 3: The mother continues yelling: "Today I found her watching The Exorcist! That's a super scary one!! And on top of all that, she recorded them in standard, not extended play! No wonder the tapes have been wearing out so fast!!"
Panel 4: "You have to stop! If you keep watching these weird movies, you're going to turn into an OTAKU!! And you're a girl! Shouldn't you be into girly things like dolls and playing house!?"
Panel 5: "If you really want to watch something more mature, how about you watch this trendy new drama with me?". The mother is holding up a tape reading "Tokyo Love Story", looking hopefully at her daughter.
Panel 6: The daughter flips off her mother.

I am always reminded of The Story of Mel: users.cs.utah.edu/~elb/folklor...
You can learn a lot about an individual just by reading through his code, even in hexadecimal. Mel was, I think, an unsung genius.
Perhaps my greatest shock came when I found an innocent loop that had no test in it. No test. *None*. Common sense said it had to be a closed loop, where the program would circle, forever, endlessly. Program control passed right through it, however, and safely out the other side. It took me two weeks to figure it out.
The RPC-4000 computer had a really modern facility called an index register. It allowed the programmer to write a program loop that used an indexed instruction inside; each time through, the number in the index register was added to the address of that instruction, so it would refer to the next datum in a series. He had only to increment the index register each time through. Mel never used it.
Instead, he would pull the instruction into a machine register, add one to its address, and store it back. He would then execute the modified instruction right from the register. The loop was written so this additional execution time was taken into account just as this instruction finished, the next one was right under the drum's read head, ready to go. But the loop had no test in it.
The vital clue came when I noticed the index register bit, the bit that lay between the address and the operation code in the instruction word, was turned on, yet Mel never used the index register, leaving it zero all the time. When the light went on it nearly blinded me.
He had located the data he was working on near the top of memory, the largest locations the instructions could address, so, after the last datum was handled, incrementing the instruction address would make it overflow. The carry would add one to the operation code, changing it to the next one in the instruction set: a jump instruction. Sure enough, the next program instruction was in address location zero, and the program went happily on its way.

How cute! I've been in a gnomish recently myself and picked up these three movies based on The Secret Book of Gnomes just the other day. <:)

Positive Steam game review:

Only Danish cars can run this fast.

I see a couple of prominent review on here are comparing WHAT THE CAR? disfavorably to the studio's previous outing WHAT THE GOLF?. I don't think that's quite fair; no only is Car significantly cheaper while containing even more content and no fewer laughs, but it's a more focused and specialised game than Golf.
Now I love WHAT THE GOLF?, it's one of my favourite games of all time, but I appreciate that Triband continues trying new and novel ideas and iterating on those. There's definitely fewer parodies in Car, but there's so many jokes crammed into every tiny bit of the game, and the core gameplay loop is extremely solid, while still constantly introducing new variations on it.
I also really enjoy the ability for the community to build their own levels - it's fun trying to grind the leaderboards, and at the release I spent many hours watching various streamers compete against each other first in the demo and then in the final game. I'm really hoping to see the speedrun community latch unto the game.

I should mention that my playtime is low here because I've previously spent a lot of time playing this on the tablet.
Anyways, buy this and enjoy it for what it is: An expertly crafted comedy game, in which the comedy consistently lands - which is really hard to do with video games where you often cannot control the timing.

Okay, maybe the Flintstone car can run pretty fast as well....

I'm not personally too into more action-y or minigame-y parts of the genre, but I do know that the games we get the most requests about at the Royal Danish Library are Matematik i Måneby by Bitfrost and various Gili Soft games such as Gys på Regneslottet.
Screenshot from Matematik i Måneby, which shows the overworld view of the planet of the Gullops, and how it is developing as you've completed a bunch of math-based mini-games to help them build new structures.Screenshot from Gys på Regneslottet (Quantum Castle) showing some numbered potions being mixed together in a cauldron by a witch, with a numbered bubble rising from the ensuing soup - and also there's a band of skeletons on the back wall of the dungeon that the scene is set in.
