I’ve done a lot of public speaking and it is important to communicate with your audience. Sometimes it means raising the level of discourse, other times it means speaking in simpler terms. But I have never addressed a crowd that was stupid enough to believe these lies. What have we become?

Light colored interiors are great, especially if you live in the sunny west. It doesn’t absorb heat Ike darker colors. And it is no more difficult to maintain than the darker colors.

It is a very impressive path, people go into public health to help people, not get rich. Same with most prof docs I know, they take the extra step of getting a research degree out of a sense of scientific curiosity that they maintain for the rest of their careers. They make the best MD’s too.

As a former associate dean of research ,,Prof Docs are the cream of the crop. They complete training as a MD plus they earn a PhD in a field of medical research. They are the ones who advance our knowledge in medical science. It is a badge of honor.

Insurance works by pooling average, high and low risk individuals. The high risk people are, in effect, subsidized by the low risk healthy people who don’t file claims. Getting rid of the low risk people makes no sense at all.

Sure, let’s buy potash from landlocked country.Truck it across Lithuania to Kaliningrad. Ship it across the Baltic and Atlantic to the east coast of the US and then by rail to the Midwest. It is more efficient the transporting it a few hundred miles from Canada. And diesel fuel is cheap, right?

Thank you. I regret retiring because it was wonderful to teach undergraduate students how to analyze policies. And I never took political positions. Just gave them the tools to make informed decisions.

Malicious use has already started. My son works for a mid-sized corporation and they have had two cases of crooks using AI to imitate employees’ voices to request a password change. Then they use the account to redirect direct deposit paychecks to foreign accounts.

I was teaching economic policy analysis when Trump 1 imposed tariffs. I made sure every student knew how tariffs work and how to analyze who gains and who loses. There are always net losses. If I were teaching now I would groan and assign Ricardo’s 19th century theory of comparative advantage.

I’ve been saying that too, to my family. My fear is that it will take more than 4 years to fix the economy and prices won’t come down when the tariffs are lifted. Prices are inflexible downward. The republicans will blame the democrats and here we go again. People and the media have no memory.
