The Heart Nebula, in the Cassiopeia constellation, ~7,500ly from us. This is my last image of 2024 due to weather and I only got ~13.5Hrs of data in Ha/Oiii only. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

The Pacman nebula, a bright emission nebula in Cassiopeia at ~9,200ly from us. Taken from my backyard in the Bay Area (bortle 7), ~45Hrs of exposure in Sii/Ha/Oiii. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social
An image showing a glowing nebula with a bright central region, resembling the pacman video game character. The colors range from blues and greens in the center to yellows and oranges at the edges, all against a dark backdrop sprinkled with stars.

Close up of the Veil, on an area commonly called The Bat Nebula (NGC 6995). I'm starting to use Gemini to generate ALT text and it's both interesting and frustrating. It thought this looked like a Dragon, but the description is what it basically came up with.
An image of a complex structure in space featuring a long, vertical, undulating form resembling a celestial bat, composed of glowing filaments and wisps of gas and dust. The predominant colors are a soft teal or turquoise outlining the bat-like shape, with feathery red accents trailing along its body and edges. The background is a dark expanse speckled with numerous stars.

The Lion Nebula in Cepheus. This is a region rich in hydrogen with emission nebulae and star clusters. It is slightly bigger in apparent size than the Moon! It is roughly 10,000 lightyear away. From backyard in the Bay Area. ~40hrs of exposure. #astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social
An image showing a bright feature on the left composed of glowing gas and dust with yellow and orange hues, and a fainter, elongated feature on the right in bright blue tones, set against a dark backdrop speckled with stars.

The Shark Nebula in Cepheus. This region of dust and gas is 650 ly away and spans ~15 ly head to tail. This is very faint. A single 2min image reveals no shape at all. Taken from my backyard in the Bay Area. ~45 Hrs of 2 min LRGB exposures. Full res: astrob.in/full/m6c6xx/0/ #astrophotography
