I haven't decided how I want to go about an actual response to that polars article yet, but here's the VERY unofficial numbers for the datasets in that blog post SuperIntervals still wins in some cases, but returns results in reverse ordering. If that doesn't matter, SuperIntervals is the fastest

Seems like yes, still committed to open sourcing the compiler:

github.com/sstadick/str... Stay in the code. Avoid context switching. That was the whole goal of this endeavor. I wanted to be able to use agents for things like search, one-off questions, and small patches without stepping out as abstracted as something like claude. github.com/sstadick/str...
Example showing the StriderChat where the agent is walking the user through what a visually selected block of lua code does.

To pick one quote:
That means the people in the center are selected from a particular group: people who were willing to give the thing a fair chance without yet assuming it deserved a permanent place in their lives.

That willingness is already a bias towards curiosity and experimentation which makes the center look more like adopters in behavior, because exploration requires use, but it does not make the center identical to enthusiasts in judgment.

github.com/sstadick/moj... A command line argument parser in the vein of structopt, for Mojo.

haskellforall.com/2026/03/a-su... I think the cartoon pretty much covers it.
Sufficiently detailed specs are just code.

TIL that a single `*` is a valid SEQ in SAM spec. It makes sense in retrospect, but I did not cover that edge case. github.com/sstadick/per...
Screenshot of SAM spec for the SEQ field that says a single `*` is valid when the sequence is not stored.

Perl 👀 x.com/jxmnop/statu... To be fair, Perl was the OG write only vibe coding language.

It's very cool to me that this is possible. Mojo doesn't have saturating add/sub ops (yet). But you can add them yourself with inline llvm intrinsics. Delivering on the promise of "moving the magic out of compilers and into libraries". Notably, this implementation will work for both scalar simd.

Question on semi-global alignment - where did you find / come up with the names of "overlap", "extension", etc? I'd always thought of all of those as just variants of semi-global.
