Here you go. As promised, A photo of the Jules Verne and Alphonse Mucha Art Nouveau poster inspired artwork framed! Love it and so pleasing to see the labour of love in the real!

Well. This is a first for me. Using the "Rebelle 8 Pro" art software, it's oil painting (simulation) mode and some patience, I've painted this. Can you see who it is? Anyone that knows me, knows I'm a sucker for these shows old and new. Beam me up... #digitalart #sttos #CaptainKirk #noai #art
A digital oil painting portrait of Captain Kirk on the bridge of the enterprise. Painted by Andrew Gisby with absolutely no creative input from AI!

"Seven Seconds from Home" - Finished! I started this digital watercolour and pencil artwork soon after the launch of Artemis 2. It's taken the duration of the mission plus several days to finish painting it using Fresco and my ancient Kamvas graphics tablet. #artemis2 #nasa #digitalartwork #art
"Seven Seconds from Home" - Finished! I started this digital watercolor and pencil artwork soon after the launch of Artemis 2 (something to do whilst waiting for the mission to progress 😄). It's taken the duration of the mission plus several days to finish painting it using Fresco and my somewhat ancient Kamvas graphics tablet. Whilst I was working on the exhaust plume, I read that the Kennedy Space centre is a nature reserve! So, I thought I put in some worms eye view spectators found there.
Final piece roughly 50cm high
Not everyone's taste, but I tried hard with this to match lightning and colouration from various photo references of the rocket launch. Pretty pleased with the outcome. All by me, no AI slop. #Artemis #NASA #art #digitalart"Seven Seconds from Home" - Finished! A Jules Verne and Alphonse Mucha Art Nouveau poster inspired artwork that has given me an amazing amount of relaxation and pleasure drawing (No AI was used to create this imagery). Fine art printing is done and I'm really looking forward to seeing it framed and on the wall. I will post the result! 🥲
Alphonse Mucha inspired art nouveau stylised poster of scene from the Jules Verne 20,000 leagues under the seas novel. Depicting the leviathan squid approaching the Nautilus. The poster is tall and thin with naturalistic patterns, and sea floral and fauna cascading around the borders with a blueprint style elevated view of the Nautilus submarine at the bottom.

"A life on the ocean wave..." 🎵 Been a while but I've been down a rat hole of generalising controls, wheel and levers against physics forces and floating objects. However, I'm emerging from the conundrum and sailing the high dungeon seas! #godotengine #gamedev #indiegamedev youtu.be/Y2KsrPuJJCY

🎶What shall we do with a drunken sailor...🎶 Yay, the buoyancy physics approach works for the big stuff as well as the little stuff! It's totally unfinished but this ship is pretty big on the aft section (just not visualised). #godot4 #madewithgodot #indiegamedev #indiedev

So my vertex wave generation and pixel shader code is different, but this video really made things click for me (when it came to making the physics work) - So obvious in the end www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R2K...

Yeah boy, that's totally buoyant! Watched a video, learnt some new tricks with synchronisation of GPU and physics on CPU, and oh boy... I've got things floating on the noisy water. So excited about getting larger sailable vessels going now. Whoop! #godot4 #madewithgodot #indiegamedev #godotengine

In the "fragment" part of the shader, Blended normal maps (a rock material one and a bubbly/foam one), with a low roughness (0.1) setting mainly (shinny). Some trig (sine) math as well to vary the normal map lookups (uv coordinates) to make it look fluid.

🎶 You spin me right round baby right round... 🎶 Refining the movable whirlpool feature. Once again, pretty pleased with this evenings #indiegamedev efforts. I think #godotengine is starting to sink in and made this pretty comfortably (mostly shader work tbh). #godot4

Why the water? Well there are some vast rooms in these dungeons that will be navigable by vessels of various forms the exhibit both safety and danger (...aka "boss" type entities). (Started making these over a year ago! 😀) #godotengine #indiegamedev #indiedev #dungeon

And in the game... I need to procrastinate and endlessly tweak this water (the edges need to be a bit more foamy for me), but I'm pretty happy with these murky wet death traps. #godotengine #indiegamedev #indiedev #dungeon

Yeah. It will need a bit tuning for sure although generally, when in the dungeon game, camera mostly looks down so hoping I can hide the crimes so to speak. Honestly, it's a very simple shader really and I didn't want to spend ages on it.

A rare attempt by myself at a half decent dungeon water shader. Uses vertex deformation for waves (really!? 😜), a whirlpool and up to 16 ripple sources (for things floating). Chatgpt prompt as a starter, but refactored over 80% of the shader code (good learning though). #godotengine #indiegamedev

It's been a while since I've posted some progress on this #godotengine game. But I'm feeling pretty stoked right now with it! Procedurally generated, this underground dungeon area quite literally 'Rocks'! #gamedev #indiegamedev #godot4 #madewithgodot

That #indiegamedev feeling when you have just spent 2 weeks on perf related refactoring. Honing your "work of art" code to strip out, multi-task and process the bare essentials of what is needed. You run it and see it RUNNING SLOWER! Your 60fps "mostly" masterpiece now barely hitting 30 fps! 😡😟😭

I don't know what editorial controls are in place for ads and their sources but I guess a concern will be troll ads masquerading as gamedev with poor click-thru destinations? Could you end up spending all your time doing editorial/censorship admin?

It's alive.. alive..! This monster dropped in to the game relatively painlessly. A wonderfully predictable skeleton warrior(!). The foot soldiers of a dungeon. I want to implement some tactical traits, may be some flanking behaviours. #indiegamedev #godotengine #gamedev #dungeon #arpg

Just starting porting this wee fleshless warrior from my old unity project in to my bright shiny #godotengine project. Will definitely repaint sometime but right now I want a few more monster types wandering around! #indiegamedev #gamedev
A 3D model of a Skeleton Warrior in a T-Pose position. PBR textured and freshly imported in to the godot editor. The skeleton is outlined in red but looks, dirty and weathered with glowing eyes and a rusty old sword.

Thanks. I must mention as well that I often assign particular int values to c# enums. Especially bit shifted values (ie. 1<<n where n is a number 0 to 32). Opens up very fast int based math/logic. One Int encoding 32 states by it's bit settings (just like #godot visibility layers for example).

I don't know about gdscript, in C# enums are of course int's. Really useful for name assignment to states (readability). I use them a lot for things like bit assignment, bit logic, command names, etc. int (enum) logic is quick. Useful for switch statements (readability). Errr I like 'em. 🤔😀

Duckocide @duckocide.games · 03/12/2024
Yes, I'm going to do it. I've been mulling around few thoughts on musical puzzle locks. I reckon I can make a gameplay that does not need a knowledge of music and relies on achieving an audio or visual "harmony" to solve. Of course you might find an illustrated book to really understand how😜
A c# defined enumerator called NoteName that contains a list on notes normally defined in a single octave.

UV = X & Y position on a 2D texture (picture). Each point of a polygon can be given a UV coordinate. So when the render fills the 3D polygon it uses the image (texture) pixels between those UV coordinates (points). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UV_mapp...
