Hello from the best natural history gallery in the world. 🤩 The gallery of comparative anatomy at #Paris' National Museum of Natural History contains literally thousands of skeletal specimens. In my opinion, it has never been surpassed. #museums

Image of the entry area of the National Museum of Ireland - Natural History in 1914.
Three giant Irish deer (2 males with antlers, 1 female without) dominate the midground, with a table case in the foreground labelled "Irish Bird Remains" and a note in the case reads:
"National Museum. The collections in [the] room are in process of re-arrangement"

It's not the primary reason for wrapping it, but it may be *one* of the reasons...

Well, it's actually made of Tyvek, which is what hazmat suits are made of, so you weren't far off with your first thought! We use Tyvek because it's breathable and that helps stop moisture being trapped, which can allow mould to grow on the specimen if it gets too humid.

Wishing everyone a Happy 2025 from the Dead Zoo! A new account for a new year - and we have a lot to share from our big decant project, as we prepare for our major building project to improve access and the environmental conditions in our 1856 building.
