True Rob, think I’m going to have to wobble on a bit longer 7th in league, all to play for but I never thought I’d be so frustrated. Defence is killing us this season. Management mustn’t paper over the cracks by blaming a deflected goal & an own goal. Simply not good enough defensively again!

Yes Gaz agree 39 goals conceded is crazy for a team trying to get into the play offs! (I was never thinking seriously we were a top 2 team before season began) 10 more conceded than any team in top 6. Not good enough! Target was always play offs for me but we need to win Saturday!

I’m aware they’ve a registration process (the window that opens Friday) a player can ‘sign’ anytime but can’t play until registered in the registration window to play. I used signing as a base word as limited words. My point being he could still leave and sign/register for Atlanta after Monday

The first match I attended at Wembley Middlesbrough v Chelsea in the ZDS Cup Final (Zenith Data Systems Cup) 1990. Chelsea won the match 1–0, with a goal from Tony Dorigo. I’ve seen all 5 Middlesbrough’s Wembley appearances. At both New & Old Wembley. It’s a stadium we’ve never won at 🤦‍♂️ #UTB

With multi channels have a standard commentary game channel & a no commentary but mic’d up officials, VAR Audio etc. Lots of insight, better entertainment on the channel with audio. Oh & no disclaimers or apologies for inappropriate language! You watch, you accept! It’ll never happen - will it?

Cheers Craig, I think that’s the end of Smith for us. Pity to end that way but may find a club in summer at his level/age. I fear Lenihan may follow a similar path depending on when his contract is up. Good player, strong leader and was going well for us. 31 in March but injury big concern

Yes Gaz, Losing Morris to injury has cost us around 6-7 points (draws v Cardiff, Sheff Wed, Plymouth which we should have won & the loss home to Blackburn we should have drawn). His injury was significant. His imminent return even more significant. He is the midfield difference we need…and NOW!

Yep, again agree. I think the euphoria of the quarter final and semi final comebacks contributed to that gung-ho style. 1-0 to 78 mins and we were still in it. Disappointing ending. We didn’t deserve 4:0 but that’s football no one knew just how big Seville would then become in that era!

Agree, too small for a European final. Think we only got c8,000 tickets which was ridiculous. There were moments we nearly pulled it back. I remember one shot from Viduka that he caught clean, perfect shot but straight at keeper. If he’d miss hit it it might have gone in. Summed up the night!

As a patron living in York of many of the pubs mentioned in this article I found this an excellent read! Also my memory jogged of many a pint drank in the Master Cooper on Acklam Road Middlesbrough in the late 70’s early 80’s. Grab a beer 🍺 or coffee ☕️ and enjoy the article!

Agree, after such an amazing run to the final it was an anticlimax. However we were statistically still in the game until they scored the 2nd goal on 78 mins. They were class though! It was one game too far for us that season but I hold lifelong memories and grateful to have experienced it #UTB

It’s taken me this long to realise Chelsea Manager Enzo Maresca was Man of the Match in the 2006 UEFA Cup Final v #Boro Scored 2 goals. That season was incredible. Boro just 1 of 19 teams to play in a major European Final. I was at the game. I knew at the time it may be unique in our history #UTB

Reminds me. Moved house in 90’s. Winter. Unpacked, threw cardboard, rubbish, bin bags etc in garage. Hired skip, loaded it with rubbish, waved it goodbye 👋 Summer came, garden furniture out of garage, had frames but I’d thrown chair/sunbed cushions away that were in black bags in garage. £100’s 🤦‍♂️

Yes he’s got a lovely pedigree, he’s a lovely horse. Showed promise in his first run but lost his way a bit after that (distance). We’re hoping the break and retreat will help him mentally and physically. He’s certainly enjoying the respite. Lovely story from Kildare Kevin. Thank you 🙏
