@questauthority.bsky.social Did you see this? Literally two hours before the WPE vs WordPress hearing to resolve some of this stuff, Matt does this post on WordPress dot org, pushing it to all the admin panels? wordpress.org/news/2026/05...

Spent the last few weeks in Poland. What a cool country. Food is great, people are lovely. Summer reminds me more of Canada than Spain, which is a nice change.

Maybe time to rename the pacific, Atlantic, and arctic oceans to be more Canadian? We do have the longest coastline. Seems about as nonsensical to me as renaming the gulf.

I've seen people raise concerns about the WPE injunction similar to this in a few different places, including Hacker News and Twitter. (In other words, not trying to drag brinavan - this is a Bluesky example of a common, and not unreasonable, concern.) Here's why I don't share that concern:

I did some gorilla math based on the WPE tracker website - if 27,000 sites have left WPE based on interference, at $400 USD/mo (WPE's middle tier), that amounts to $130,000,000 in lost revenue per year. Automattic might end up paying a lot of money to basically destroy their own trust and goodwill.

Just walked by a pharmacy here in Spain and they were blasting the Bublé Christmas album in English. I just can’t escape it.

This is actually how I feel. I feel somewhat shameful I supported this platform for 15 years, given the recent actions by Matt and Automattic. That's why I feel compelled to continue to speak out.

Working on my homemade custom hifi amplifier. It’s pretty weird debugging an amp in real time when it’s literally playing the audio for the movie you’re watching.

@questauthority.bsky.social hey Mike, for the WPE vs Wordpress injunction hearing on the 26th - do they make a determination that same day, or will it play out over days or weeks as well? Thanks for your continued coverage!

Revolut now supports buying eSIMs right through the app. Super convenient. Just bought a 1GB European one to hold me over until I can reactive my Spanish sim.

130,000 people went out to protest in Valencia the other day. I’m debating heading back on Friday. Been a while since I’ve been there and seen my friends and my apartment.

Lots of plugins migrating off dot org to GitHub. Official account is trying to make it sound like anything other than dot org won’t be secure. This is mostly nonsense. Also in the official responses to WPE’s lawsuit, Automattic’s lawyers suggested they download it from GitHub. Just gaslighting here

I spent the last 48 hours looking at the #WordPress update APIs. It's pretty staggering the amount of data that is being passed around. I tried to summarize it in this post. As far as I'm aware this isn't really documented anywhere, nor is it opt-in. duanestorey.com/posts/down-t...

WPE responds to Matt and Automattic’s injunctive relief response. They basically say Matt and Automattic seem to be living in an alternate universe where what they are saying in legal docs is opposite to what they have said publicly. You can read it here: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

After 18 years of using WordPress, I decided to finally leave it thanks to the hostile and abusive actions of Matt. I decided to go with a fully static system, one that I started writing myself at the beginning of the week. If you're curious about going static, follow along.
