Lots of thoughts on 'Resident Evil' (2026). A Resident Evil side story as it were. Could be a non-Resident Evil film if a few little nods were taken away. Lovely gore and effects. Big fan of the tumbleweed monster. Didn't realise one person could say the F word in so many ways. Bless, Bryan.

I think I may prefer 'Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed' (2004) to the first, I loved all the ghosts and ghoulies. How delightful. The cast are once again superb and the humour had me chuckling away. I WANT MORE.

'Scooby Doo' (2002) was MAGNIFICENT. The opening is brilliant and then the rest of the film is brilliant too. Ending up fighting actual spirits but never mentioning again. Lol. Cast are great and it just simply looks real, many modern films don't. Made me smile and fuzzy. Shaggy is the MVP.

Enjoyed 'Friday the 13th' (2009). This Jason means BUSINESS. Not as campy or B-movie as most of the originals, but it's genuinely one of my favourite Friday films. Grimy and horrid. Some spectacular kills. That said, had Jason ended up in space again I also certainly wouldn't have complained.

I can be a silly billy boy sometimes and the silly billy sense of humour in 'Fackham Hall'(2025) worked for me. Was not expecting so much JRR Tolkien. One of my heroes. As others have said, The Naked Gun and Downton Abbey mashed up. I dug it.

Had a good giggle with 'Ricky Stanicky' (2024) An easy watch and that's all I needed. Really am a Cena fan.

'Gotham Central: In the Line of Duty' (2003) was brilliant. I really enjoyed seeing the GCPD operate without Batman. Though he did pop up, but it didn't feel out of place. Actually helped the Cop-only aspects. Was invested in the characters, especially Renee, and would read more once I find them.

'Doctor Who: Fear Death by Water' (2025) was magnificent. I didn't know about the real-life history of Grace Darling but I will look her up further. 15 and co were well-written, as was the book. I love the ocean, primal forces, etc. Brilliant. Possibly my favourite 15 novel so far.

Hot DAMN 'Fear Steet: 1978' (2021) doesn't shy away from letting kids meet a grizzly end. A decent callback to slashers of old. Got more delightful teases of witch-possessed murderers. Good world-building. Sadie Sink shines once again as the best of the young Stranger Things cast.

020

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Sadie Sink truly is the best young star to come out of Stranger Things. Sadly, Sadie Sink is not in 'Enola Holmes 3' (2026). I'd absolutely watch a film with Henry Cavill as Sherlock though.

Watching 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' (2001) on the big screen for the 25th anniversary was bittersweet realising how many of the actors are no longer with us. Casting is (as always said) brilliant and it's a decent film adaptation. Still holds up today (at the time of writing this).

'Coyote vs ACME' (2026) was a silly billy film. I feel like Looney Tunes are well known, but also I've never felt they are as big as they could have been. The cel-shading with the real-world stuff worked for me and wasn't distracting. Could have let Cena use his comedic chops a bit more though.

' X-Men '97' (S2) (2026) was fantastic. Remember I have always found some sort of block with X-Men stories, despite really liking some of the characters and the themes. Happy to report this is well worth a watch. The animation is gorgeous. Very much looking forward to S3.

It's taken roughly six months of casually dipping in and out, but me and my younger brother have finally reached a minimum of round 50 on every 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' (2015) zombies map, as of last night. Some good memories made. Some grey hairs grown.

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'(2013)is a brilliant sequel that you initially think may just be a re-tread of the first, but it's far from it. Really sows rhe seeds for the rebellion to come and explores PTSD pretty well. VIVA LA REVOLUTION.

'Bad Boys 2' (2003) is silly and dumb, Michael Bay-smeared, action fun. I really dug it. A great sequel and the duo are great together.

'Tesla VS Lovecraft' (2018/2020) let me blast my way through HORDES of eldritch monstrosities and as someone who loves twin-stick shooters and bright colours, you best believe it was my jam. Funnily enough the PS5 version with all extra DLC is actually tougher. But all still fell.

Enjoyed 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns' (1986). Funny that an "old" Batman is considered 55. Liked him returning to the fray to show naughty mutants, past villains, and boy scouts who's boss. Characters in 86 saying the opposite of what they would nowadays (looking at you, sexist Jim).

'Doctor Who: Twelve Angels Weeping' (2018) was yet another fantastic anthology book set in the Whoniverse. My favourite stories were probably the Cyberman one and the one with the Ood and the heist. Oh and the Weeping Angels one, that felt like a real threat again.

Mixed feelings on 'The Last of Us' (S2) (2025). Still a high production quality (though some dialogue was, well, shite), and it's always been a Joel and Ellie story to me, so those scenes I liked. Didn't care for anything else all that much. Basically how I felt about the second game.

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

Hot damn there was a level of creepiness underpinning the entirety of 'Visions' (2015) that got right under my skin. A story you have seen variations of before, but here with a Marvel lick of paint. I think this is technically a different universe? Either ways some parts were dark.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

'Hobbs and Shaw' (2019) was brilliant. Big, dumb action fun and I had a blast. The cast really works for me and there's some brilliant comedic moments of dry humour. The action is pretty great and some of the stunts are fantastic. Family.

Rewatched 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' (1984). The idea of a dream demon is fascinating, and Freddy Krueger is a horror icon, but the film just doesn't quite work for me. That said, some of the kills were brilliant. Getting eaten by a bed? Magical. Big fan of the OBVIOUS dummy at the end too.

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

Got around to checking out 'Send Help'(2026) too. Just absolutely did not work for me. Thought it was ridiculous and Linda was just a caricature. For a way better version of this type of story and characters, please watch 'Misery' (1990)

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

'Ice Cream Man' (2026) is not in my good books. Looked and sounded like a machine had been fed an idea at gunpoint. Weird sexual and incestuous undertones and a super inappropriate "joke" about eating disorders. Decent gore at times, and the end did actually trick me a little.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

'Ice Cream Man' (1995) was quite the experience. I hold ice cream in as high esteem as a priest does the Lord, so I was always going to see it through to the end. Some parts were actually incredibly funny because of how laughably stupid things were. What I expected and I had a good time.

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

I learnt some things with 'Big Chicken: A Fast Food Conspiracy' (2026). For a documentary that's important, but it's also something you've seen 1000 times before and that's just really sad because humans quite simply (not all, but those in power) don't seem to be learning or care.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

'Spider-Man: The Darkest Hours' (2021) was Spectacular, amazing, superior. 3 fantastic novelisations and really got into the characters. Spider-Man is my favourite and these stories were a reminder of that, just him doing Spidey things.

Had, quite literally, a blast replaying 'Peggle 2' (2014). Everytime I think I'm done with the game, a few years roll around and I get pulled back in. Jimmy has the most annoying level music, but damn are his mutilballs handy at pinging all those pegs.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

Had 'Ghosts' (S1) (2019) recommended to me by a close friend and he certainly knows what works for me. Chuckled through each episode and look forward to watching the rest. Already have views on some characters, hoping the positive ones stay and am happy to have my mind changed on the others.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

'Obsession' (2026) was damn creepy. It'll stick with me for that reason. Incredibly awkward and cringey to at times too (as in, the film intended to be and it worked). I wasn't as enamoured as some seem to be, the jumpscares were obvious, BUT some of the performances were spectacular.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

As for 'The Oddyssey' (2026), I've mixed feelings. I'd say worth a watch, but I've also too many caveats to list here. I do want to say though, two scenes in the film don't shy away from the mythological stuff (particularly the first). It's straight up horror. Fantastic stuff.

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

Had a blast on 'Call of Duty: Black Ops' (2026 Port) again thanks to the PlayStation port. Pricing was a bit scummy (DLC is in the install files, but have to buy pass seperate) and I'd have preferred a physical version. However, the campaign remains solid and the OG zombies modes are fantastic.

'Hawkeye: My Life As a Weapon' (2012) was brilliant. Always had a soft spot for Hawkeye, not sure why, and this just really worked for me. The art was great, the writing was superb, and his dynamic with Kate was fantastic. Did end a bit abruptly as others noted, but I was still satisfied.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 08/07/2026

'The Invite' (2026)? 5* The cast were brilliant. Superb in their roles. Seth Rogen plays Seth himself but it works. Would make a cracking stage play. Resonated the themes and cried. Started off unsettled and on edge, by the end I had a full-blown therapy session going on. Humorous too.

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 02/07/2026

'Minions and Monsters' (2026) was bloody brilliant. Loved the nods to cinema throughout history. Funny. I've realised Minions may be immortal and that's horrifying. They are also potentially instigators of genocide. At the very least, multiple and extensive counts of murder and destruction.

'Toy Story 5' (2026) was wonderful. It made me feel warm and fuzzy. One of the best recent Pixar films. The argument on technology wasn't just black and white; I thought it was really well done. I'm glad I grew up playing with toys though. Big fan of Jessie, glad she got the spotlight.

As a big sci-fi fan, and someone getting more and more into some of the old-school literature, I thought 'The Invincible' (2023) was a brilliant videogame adaptation. Made me want to read the book. Sci-fi is awesome and some of the concepts were groovy. I want to see them on the page.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 03/06/2026

'Spiritfall' (2025) is definitely one of the best rogue-lites I've played in recent memory. Seen others say it's a mash-up of 'Hades' and 'Super Smash Bros' and I have to agree. Incredibly satisfying to bash enemies into the sides of each level, and the different powers and synergies were rad.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 03/06/2026

On the subject of absolutely superb short films, I must also note 'Less Than Human' (2017). I would quite happily watch a mockumentary series/film of the two main zombies and how they go about their daily lives. Imagine 'What We Do In the Shadows' but with zombies. Superb.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 03/06/2026

'The Long Slow Flight of the Ashbot' (2015) tapped into my existential side like crazy. There's just something about the last robot in the universe floating towards the end of everything that had me pondering the meaning of it all. Visually lovely. Short films can be truly wonderful.

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 03/06/2026

'Doctor Who: Aliens of London' (2026) and 'Doctor Who: The Satan Pit' (2026) were both fantastic novelisations. The former was great at showing Jackie and her motherly side. The latter had an interesting POV style that I thought worked pretty well, even if some scenes had to be omitted.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 20/05/2026

Thought 'Creature Commandos' (2024) was spectacular. Really liked all the characters and their quirks, each episode was to the point and each being a quasi-origin story was fantastic. Very much looking forward to S2. I'm also very much looking forward to these characters in live action.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 16/05/2026

'Mickey 17' (2025) was a weird film, but the satire, dark humour and awkwardness worked for me. I'd happily watch all the different ways poor Mickey was expended. Patterson was magnificent. I have found myself really enjoying his performances. Ruffalo was an absolute gremlin and I loved it.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

I really enjoyed 'The Sheep Detectives' (2026). There were a few sprinklings of it at first, but then HOT DAMN did the messages about grief and forgetting/remembering hit me like a truck. Had humour and had heart. I laughed and cried. A great cast, both human and CGI sheep.

I wouldn't say you need to have watched all of Bernthal's previous performances to understand 'The Punisher: One Last Kill' (2026), but it will hit harder if you do. As violent as I expected. Frank's grief it touched on really got to me too. Personally, I thought it was done well in little time.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 10/05/2026

Had a good comedy streak of films recently with: 'Airplane' (1980) 'Dogeball' (2004) 'Hot Fuzz' (2007) 'Run, Fat Boy, Run'(2007) Not that it matters but there's a ranking to how much I enjoyed, but more importantly each made me laugh in their own way. That's all you need from a comedy sometimes.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 07/05/2026

Recently finished 'Daredevil: Born Again S2' (2026). Lots of highs and some lows. Felt weird in that it references the Netflix show, but also felt rehashed at times, seeming to want to be fresh. Still, worth a watch. Most of the cast were superb and some of the cinematography was wonderful.

010

Dualshocks and Daydreams @dualshockdreams.bsky.social · 07/05/2026

Don't think it's a spoiler to say I'm really happy that Darth Maul survived being cut in half by Obi-Wan because 'Maul: Shadow Lord' (2026) was fantastic. I liked all the crime elements mixed in with Star Wars goodness. The animation was superb, the lightsaber duels too.
