*If* they were acting in good faith, I might see the argument that even the healthiest person would likely file some claim for an annual physical or flu shot or *something* each year. So someone with zero claims rather than one or two might be fake. But of course, they are not acting in good faith.

You could probably make the argument that Wrigley was the first, though it’s hard to separate the man from the company. Fenway and Yankee Stadium remain unsponsored, at least

I think at this point Canada has a more legitimate interest in the future stability of America than anyone in the current administration

What about what’s left after food, housing, health care, and child care, though? There’s been an inversion in the affordability of goods vs. services in the last several decades.

You can actually still buy these new — I suspect the hole spacing is standard, but you'd have to measure. But they appear to be available in store: www.homedepot.com/p/Progress-L...

Do people actually eat omelettes for breakfast in France? I feel like they are more of a lunch food (along with quiche, which sort of gets merged into breakfast in the US because of eggs)

I agree both that we are in very concerning cultural decline and that hybrids are underutilized, but I’m not sure they’re linked? Europe was also very slow to adopt hybrid powertrains (thanks in part to some weird diesel chauvinism) while otherwise doing much better on decarbonization.

It’s a bit more complicated than that — the first/second gen Escape (through ‘12) was on a Mazda platform (CD2), and the first gen (2010-12) Fusion was on a different but related Mazda platform (CD3). The ‘13+ Escape and the Maverick were based on Focus platforms (C1/C2), not the Fusion one (CD4).

So long as the 15th amendment is in place, there is no point to discussing “strict colorblindness” in elections.

I think this only makes sense from a business travel perspective. If you're traveling for work, 45 minutes at home is yours, vs 45 minutes that feels like you're "on the clock" at the airport.

I think some people don’t like it? Diet Pepsi switched to it in 2015 but switched back three years later when sales slumped. You still see it in baked goods sometimes as it’s heat stable.

Particularly rough given I can get 16GB of DDR4 for roughly the same amount as the *increase* here. Obviously the economics are different at scale but for a consumer comparing options it's hard to justify the Pi5 at these higher memory amounts.

Not just situations, but people — there are a great many people who aren’t physically capable of riding bikes, but who can drive just fine. For all their faults, cars are much more adaptable to disabilities in many ways.

The vast majority of auto regulations are safety related — those really don’t change much based on propulsion type. (And they’ve also been updated quite a bit over the years.) A notable exception is emissions rules, of course, but that’s a solved problem.

See, that’s a useful comparison (and the Ioniq is by all accounts an excellent car). The fact that you can get a Venue for $20k or an F150 King Ranch for $80k doesn’t change that math, though.

A manufacturer average transaction price is meaningless to an individual consumer. A *similar* Ford isn’t $71k. That’s an average inflated by sales of F150s and Navigators that an Ioniq buyer would never consider.

Intuit has repeatedly gotten into trouble for misleading consumers about free file options, so that’s understandable! They settled with a group of state AGs in 2022 and got in trouble with the FTC in 2024.

Almost certainly an underripe Hachiya persimmon! They are delicious but only when they are so ripe they’re nearly falling apart. If you eat them before that they are very tannic and an awful experience indeed. Fuyu persimmons (which are flat on the bottom) aren’t tannic and can be eaten firm.
