Anyone here has experience with dedicated emulation handhelds like Retroids etc? I'm thinking of getting one now that the industry decided to go after them, and I'm looking for suggestions. It doesn't have to be the cheapest, but neither does it have to be top-end. My immediate use would be 3DS

The final stretch of Metroid Prime is a great example of old school design I'm glad to see gone. It was acceptable in 2002, nigh intolerable in 2026. There's the infamous artifact hunt of course, but the final area and boss are also pretty awful. You have to climb up with infinitely respawning

Cleared Metroid Prime 4. If I were a reviewer, it would be maybe a 7.5 package. It's gorgeous to look at. Excellent when it lets you play Prime despite being more linear and action-oriented. Tolerable when you're crossing the desert to go from one Metroid area to the next, or go back to base camp

I finished Lego Star Wars today with the kid. It's so simplistic I have a hard time staying awake, but that's precisely why it's great to play with a 6-year old. It was yet another reminder of how stupid the latest trilogy was. Original trilogy ends, resistance defeats the empire. Sequel trilogy

Not quite sure what to make of the sudden AI doomsaying. On the one hand, I have no doubt the dangers are real and people who sneer at AI as "not real intelligence" and cavalierly dismiss the risks are dangerously missing the point. An AI doesn't need to be have "real intelligence" or "sentience"

I do whatever I can to manage Nintendo's uncompromising full price policy, to reasonable success, which means it often takes me a while to get something Nintendo I want at a price that doesn't make me feel like I'm being robbed on a highway (maybe just pickpocketed), or not buying at all.

I played a ton of MHW close to launch but moved on before Iceborne and the deluge of crossover content. It's great they made all events permanents, it's been fun catching up. The Geralt quest was standout, clearly made by people who liked what they were doing. I smiled from beginning to end #blutoid
