Mastered a whole EP on closed-back headphones only, no monitors, no phone-speaker check. Felt massive to me. Played it in a friend's car and the kick vanished completely - that low end only existed on headphone drivers. Redid the master mono-first, headphones last.
I mastered a whole EP without ever checking a phone speaker. Headphone-only low end vanished the moment it left the room

Mastering hotter than -14 LUFS buys you nothing on Spotify. Anything over that gets turned down to -14, so you're just shrinking your peak-to-loudness ratio for a flatter-sounding master. The old brickwall-to-the-ceiling habit is actively working against you now. #ableton #Mastering
Loud doesn't win on Spotify anymore. Tracks over -14 LUFS integrated get turned down - quieter ones never get boosted.
