#5DebutAlbumsFinal What a difficult choice! Thanks again for making this so fun Richard. 1. The Smiths - S/T 2. Arcade Fire - Funeral 3. Pearl Jam - Ten 4. Suede - S/T 5. Big Star - #1 Record 6-10 The Stone Roses, The La's, Alanis, Pink Floyd, R.E.M.

#5DebutAlbumsFinal #NowPlaying The Stone Roses - S/T This is the one...or is it?! I'm seriously struggling with a top 5 at this point.

#5DebutAlbumsFinal #NowPlaying Arcade Fire - Funeral Didn't even make my top 5 in SF3 which seems harsh in hindsight. Funeral definitely had a massive impact on me and still gives me a rush every time I hear it.

#5DebutAlbumsFinal #NowPlaying Pink Floyd - Piper At The Gates Of Dawn Received my no 1 vote in its respective round, though its much more competitive this time. Always makes me think how great it would have been to see them live around this time.

#5DebutAlbumsFinal #Nowplaying Big Star - #1 Record Really been enjoying Big Star's debut throughout this year.

It's Hats for me but there's not much in it.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

I'm having the same problem. Trying not to overthink it too much and go with the ones that are just hitting the spot right now.

#5DebutAlbumsFinal #NowPlaying The Blue Nile - A Walk Across the Rooftops While not quite making my top 5 in its respective round, this still has a chance in the final.

#5DebutAlbumsFinal #NowPlaying Pearl Jam - Ten One of only two albums in the Final that I voted as my no 1 in their respective rounds. There's certainly a bit of nostalgia about this one, but its genuinely stayed with me through the years and I've never grown tired of it.

#5DebutAlbumsFinal #NowPlaying Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted A new to me album. Admittedly the first time I heard about Pavement was the talk of them being an influence on Blur's self titled 1997 album. Didn't mind this but I think I prefer some of their later stuff.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

#5DebutAlbumsFinal #NowPlaying The Smiths I voted for 9 albums that made it through to the final. Surprisingly this wasn't one of them as it's never really been one of my 'go to' Smiths albums. But its sounding great this morning and I may need to reasses what I do with it.

I do love Pageant and Document. Now starting to think New Adventures is a career high point. Probably my most listened to R.E.M. in the last 12 months.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Great album, but never had the same hold on me as their later stuff. Out Of Time was my entry into R.E.M. and it took me a good few years to venture back from there. In another 5 yrs I may have a different view. Great thing about their albums is that I constantly flip flop on my favourite.

#livemusic #musicsky Belle & Sebastian at Enmore Theatre Only been 23 years since I last saw them! Super super gig.

Thanks Richard. It's been a joy to participate in these. Must be a relative newbie - I only got involved since late 2023. It's been a great way for me to rediscover albums that I hadn't listened to in some time or alternatively find some new to me great albums that I'd never stumbled upon before.

#5DebutAlbumsSF4 Thanks Richard. 1. House of Love - S/T 2. Stone Roses - S/T 3. Stereophonics - Word Gets Around 4. IDLES - Brutalism 5. Fleet Foxes - S/T 6-10: Harp, Fiona Apple, The Sundays, Coldplay, Television

#5DebutAlbumsSF4 #NowPlaying Damien Rice - O It's been a long time since I've listened to this, I suspect because some of the songs had become overplayed. Seemed to be a few that became synonymous with a certain type of movie at the time. It does actually sound really good though.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF4 #NowPlaying Coldplay - Parachutes Slightly inseparable from what was going on in my life at the time...leaving Uni, first job etc. Some genuinely good stuff here as there was on a Rush of Blood.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF4 #NowPlaying Fleet Foxes - s/t My no 1 in the 05-09 round. Always a great listen and slightly nostalgic as well. This was on high rotation at the time my first son was born.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF4 #NowPlaying Idles - Brutalism My no 3 in the 15 to 19 round.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 22/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF4 #NowPlaying Fiona Apple - Tidal Another one that was just outside my top 5 in the 95 to 99 round.

081

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF4 #NowPlaying Stereophonics - Word Gets Around This was just outside my top 5 in the 95 to 99 round but has another chance this time around. Always love the lyrics on this - full of small town tales and characters.

051

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Glad you like it. Worth checking out their second 'butterfly' album as well.

010

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF4 #NowPlaying The Sundays - Reading, Writing & Arithmetic My no 3 in the 90 to 94 round. I really like this one. Definitely has a chance of making my top 5 this time.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF4 #NowPlaying Bloc Party - Silent Alarm My 2nd place in the 05-09 round. Too early to say where I'll land this time around.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF4 #NowPlaying The House Of Love - s/t I highly suspect this will make my top 5. A massively underrated band.

#5DebutAlbumsSF3 Thanks Richard. One of the tougher rounds! 1. Black Country, New Road - For The First Time 2. The Sleepy Jackson - Lovers 3. Placebo 4. Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill 5. The La's 6-10 Suede, Arcade Fire, Pretenders, Teardrop Explodes, TFF

#5debutalbumsSF3 #nowplaying Tears For Fears - The Hurting My no.4 pick in the 80-84 round. In my top 15 this round, but don't think it will make my 5.

020

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

#5debutalbumsSF3 Black Country, New Road - For The First Time My top pick in the 2020s round and probably my favourite new band of the last few years. Has a high chance of making my top 5 in this round as well.

092

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

Yeah he was. Think he benefited from having an older brother and turned up at Uni with a lot of recommendations. I haven't listened to any later stuff or Cinerama so I'm gonna give them a go. Thanks for the recommendation.

010

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

That's good to know. I'll listen to a couple of later albums and see if I have a different experience.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

#5debutalbumsSF3 #nowplaying Oasis - Definitely Maybe Oasis hit at the right time for me, roughly around the age of 16..and they were everything..for a while at least. Seeing them live last year was a chance to relive those times. Sadly, I don't think it will make my top 5 this time.

061

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF3 #nowplaying The Wedding Present - George Best A friend who pushed me to dive further into R.E.M. and The Smiths also suggested I listen to this. I wasn't quite sure about it at the time and tbh it still doesn't quite resonate though its always felt like something I should like.

2101

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

It's a good'un that's for sure. May not be in my top 5 but it's up there.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF3 #nowplaying Songs of Leonard Cohen My no 1 in the 50s60s round. Cohen has been a big influence on me over the years so this one has a fighting chance though certainly not a dead cert at this stage for my top 5.

081

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF3 Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - B.R.M.C. I'd forgotten how good this was until the 00-04 round. I should be listening to this more.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF3 #nowplaying Suede - s/t My no 2 pick in the 90 to 94 round. This is a phenomenal album but I'm really not sure I have room for it in my top 5 this time. Some tough decisions at some stage.

081

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

#5DebutAlbumsSF3 #nowplaying Manic Street Preachers - Generation Terrorists It's got some great tracks including the fantastic Motorcycle Emptiness. Probably could have been a few tracks shorter.

DC @dstuclark.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

Haha its definitely one of those albums. It was everywhere!

#5DebutAlbumsSF3 Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill Accompaniment for the dog walk this morning. In the year after it came out, the sound of Alanis drove me crazy. It was only in the early 00s, I was able to appreciate the album for the classic it is. A chance of making my top 5.
