The excuses I see many agencies give for holding centers around stupidity. I understand that they build cases to not fail and it's held this up for many years. Whoever is pulling strings didn't just buy someone out... But what and who is being manipulated to stop this and what do they still have?

Ins doesn't itself exist now. But yes. Many functions are shared across USCIS, ICE, and CPB... I don't have the specifics but as many have said there's a lot bad in ICE that needs to be split out. But some tasks are in country and others are out or at borders. They blur lines so much cross agency.

Come on... You know you are over generalizing. Even the WwII people everyone hates had a very few fighting against them from inside. Find the wrongdoers and punish them via law and legal methods. Do I have faith that will actually punish the leadership responsibe? No. But we can't stoop down to them

I think it's grown much worse than it ever was going back over the last few presidents... It goes back to heads of state and how they direct thier agents. Maybe the behavior is unchanged but the scale and impact is massively larger now than its inception.... Would you agree?

Sorry, how can you say my view is of no information when ICE is just a set of agencies bundled together with a shiny new name. abolishing the entire thing is illogically assuming that something else does those jobs. There are elements not anywhere else we do still require from them. Trim the bad.

You have an interesting way of attacking someone who said it was bad. Not once did I say their actions were founded or acceptable legally nor morally. Deletion isn't always the fix many think it is. And just because a president merged agencies and renamed it to ice doesn't mean it is new (USCS/INS)

I've seen it happen more than once and it's not right. The other things too need to be looked at... Abolish data centers? Ai data centers yup. But you like this app... It uses a data center... So does a ton of other stuff. We need to be more environmentally conscious than we are.

I'm completely against what ICE has been up to lately with taking in upstanding immigrants who did it right but because of their race are pulled in and have to prove they are here legally. Sometimes even that agents are immigrants and take in people who they had some beef with just because.

I see so much good mixed with actual extremism-abolish everything is an extremist view. Ice needs to stop doing a bunch of what they've been doing. they are responsible for keeping customs enforcement too. And they keep a lot of bad stuff out of our country including toys that have lead in them.

Vehicles. We need something... But is this the answer yet? Do some real research on the battery systems and replacement cycles. We aren't ready yet. It's just a cool buzzworthy fad to support. It doesn't make the idea bad... But we can't live life blind to the actual strides we have yet to make.

My issue is being pushed into a corner to have to use a system that is just as detrimental to the environment and uses much of the same resources as well. The technology has to catch up before we cut over because of buzzword marketing. Ev cars (mostly) have a bigger carbon footprint than most deisel

I'm not sure that's true... Especially with most of the larger scale batteries used for energy storage at scale. Then you have peak usage and other areas we're not ready for anywhere in the world esp with ai (LLM) systems eating up power. Also... earth.org/environmenta... is not a minor issue

I've personally installed and designed large scale solar and off grid systems and take this very seriously. My point centers around the quality of every single aspect. Even solar panels and other types of power generation have huge shortcomings we need to work on. I can't wait to see how we overcome

This is good but leaves a lot out... The chemistry of the batteries does a lot of damage during creation that sometimes outweighs the value discussed here. What I said isn't against change... But let's take it all into account... Batteries need power to charge... And that still primarily is oil.

Like that would put even the slightest dent in their usage.... To even start to be useful they would need massive battery systems to store and leverage peak shaving which along would nearly completely reverse the gains from the solar that could fit. Much of the answer is to dead end LLM platforms.
