The Obsidian Starter Kit is an evergreen project. I improve it regularly, based on what proves itself in my own vault. And every update is free for life. I've been working on it since 2022. Four years already. One purchase. Every future version. 👉 www.store.dsebastien.net/product/obs...

Write from your vault, not from scratch.

The more useful my AI skill library became, the more expensive every session got. Claude Code loads the name and description of every skill at startup. With hundreds of skills, that cost me tens of thousands of tokens before I even typed a word.

I just created a variant of my AI/Obsidian system for my wife who is an elementary school teacher. Now AI knows her job, her class, her priorities, how to help her create lessons, visuals, animations, even educative games. She loves it. Huge time saver

Where do your book notes go? And your meeting notes, ideas and contacts? If you have to think about it, you'll hesitate. And when you hesitate, you stop capturing.

The simplest productivity habit I know: keep your daily note open all day.

I maintain a LOT of repositories across my own accounts and several organizations. Keeping track of every open issue and pull request was a mess, and GitHub Projects didn't give me what I needed.

Last time, I promised the next edition would come from a married man. Promise kept 💍 A week later, Obsidian Starter Kit v5 shipped: the AI-ready vault I run my whole business from. Last release at the current price.

My daily note is always open on my computer. It's where I list the tasks that matter today, log wins and challenges, note what I'm grateful for, and capture every idea I run into. One note. All day long. Here's why it works: www.dsebastien.net/journaling-...

I just shipped the biggest Obsidian Starter Kit release since v4. Activities and Ideas, dependencies and milestones, an ideal week, work that archives itself, one-click daily actions, and a Claude Code startup that's 65% lighter.

What would you do with an AI that already knew your goals, your projects, the people you work with and how you write? I'm genuinely curious. For me, it was planning my weeks and drafting in my own voice.

I run DeveloPassion from one Obsidian vault. Writing, the newsletter, the Knowii Community, plugin development, product launches, customers, goals. Everything.

My daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly notes all share one shape. Intentions first. Captures during the period. A Closing at the end: wins, challenges, lessons learned, what to carry forward. Learn one layout and you know them all. It's the journaling system in the Obsidian Starter Kit.

I strongly believe knowledge work should compound. Every note you create, every idea you capture, every project you complete should make you more capable. That's the conviction behind the Obsidian Starter Kit. The system is built so your past work keeps paying off.

Sébastien Dubois @dsebastien.net · 28/09/2026
Want AI to help you plan your week? It needs to know your goals, your projects, your commitments and how much time you have. In most setups, that's scattered across five apps.

I've been passionate about knowledge management for more than 20 years. I've explored, used and advocated for MANY tools. I settled on Obsidian, and built the system I wish I'd had at the start. That system is the Obsidian Starter Kit. www.store.dsebastien.net/product/obs...

Stop configuring. Start thinking. That's the whole promise of the Obsidian Starter Kit. The structure, note types, templates, plugins, automations and AI layer are ready when you open it. Your job is the part only you can do: thinking, writing and acting on what matters.

Same 5 steps every morning in Obsidian? Open the daily note, copy tasks, file yesterday's captures... That's a job for automation, and I mapped all of it in a free 62-page guide.

Sébastien Dubois @dsebastien.net · 25/09/2026
Stop creating a new note every time you learn something. It breaks your focus. You end up fiddling with folders, tags, and links instead of doing the work. Jot it down in your daily note instead. It's part of your trusted system. Process it later.

Journaling for productivity, in practice: - List the important tasks for the day - Log wins and challenges as they happen - Capture every idea in bullet points - Organize and dive deeper, in writing - Review later, with the date attached

An ideal week isn't a calendar you follow minute by minute. 80% of the time, reality wins. That's fine. The point is to think mindfully about how you want to spend your time, based on your priorities, goals, and projects.

Question I get a lot: "which Obsidian plugins should I install to automate my vault?" Wrong first question. Start with what a correct note looks like. Free guide: www.store.dsebastien.net/product/obs...

I've been journaling since I was a teenager. At first it was therapy: my thoughts, my feelings, my problems. Today it's the center of my thinking. I organize ideas with bullet points, dive deeper, and everything I learn lands there first. The story: youtu.be/_rQFUVeLSJ0

Why design an ideal week if you won't follow it? Because it gives you a sense of direction. And a clear signal when you're really not doing what you should be doing. That signal alone is worth the 20 minutes. youtu.be/4Poxs8t9YG0

I let an AI assistant work inside my vault every day. It files notes, fixes links, drafts content, and runs routines on a schedule. I trust it because of the guardrails: instruction files that describe the vault, skills for repeatable work, hooks that block mistakes.

Some things in my vault stay manual, on purpose. My journal. Private notes that should never reach an AI model. Decisions I want to think through slowly. Knowing what to leave alone is part of automating well. My free Obsidian automation guide has a section on the risks for that reason.
