TERFs cling to regressive policies for a lot of reasons, a big one being because they were forced to try to meet an impossible standard as cis women, and they believe it's right and good and the only way to be, and all women should be held to that same impossible standard. And it is impossible, and racist, and patriarchal, because cis women have been told all their lives that they simply are not allowed to exist any other way. Be beautiful, be small, make babies, be happy with the scraps you're given and be happy with your proximity to cis male whiteness, because that's all you deserve and that's the best you can hope for. But guess what? As trans women also grow up in this society, we have absorbed all those same messages about what women are "supposed to be."

TERFs are furious that others are free to choose another way. Embracing being trans and nonbinary is an affront to them, because how dare you reject the power and privilege that you get from following all of the gender rules that have been imposed upon you, and that you've been punished for not following for your entire life? Why can't they choose another way? More spoilers: they can, but chose not to because it was hard, and the anger of others doing what they could not is a huge part of their "problems" with trans people. So TERFs choose to oppress us, when in fact they should be looking at why they feel the way they do. And why they've decided misogyny and gender policing is totally fine, when they're the ones perpetrating it! Because it definitely doesn't benefit them, but it sure does benefit the patriarchal cis white heterosexual standard that's forced on everyone from the day we're born.

AI is another means of displacing risk. Much like corporations insulate bad people from being held responsible for bad things, AI tries to add another layer by creating a tool that can be blamed for the actions of its user. The plan is that they can give something else the risk and keep the rewards.

If you could redirect the heat within the fire, you could force part of it to go out, at the expense of burning some other part more quickly. Water works by forcing some of that energy into evaporating the water, effectively increasing the kindling temperature (i.e., nearby water doesn't help).

As I understand it, what makes fire fire is that the energy produced by the combustion exceeds the kindling temperature of the material. If you could reduce the temperature of the burning material faster than it can produce heat, I think it would go out, but you'd have to do the whole fire at once.
