People came together in NYC with a simple, but clear message “healthcare, not lethal military force.” Veterans, doctors, and everyday people spoke out against military strikes on boats especially as Medicaid and other health services get cut. 📷: Emerson Soto

Since last year, the U.S. government has bombed 68 boats in international waters. Now, they are seeking to expand military drug operations onto land across the Western Hemisphere. Suspected drug trafficking can be legally addressed through investigation and due process—not execution.

Marijuana reform must prioritize public health, safety, & reinvestment. The newly-reintroduced CAOA would end federal marijuana criminalization & put people, not corporate profit, at the center of marijuana reform. Tell your Senators to back real change now: engage.drugpolicy.org/secure/tell-...
Marijuana reform must put public health and communities at the center.

We deserve more than shifting marijuana's legal classification.

It's time to pass the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act (CAOA).Real Marijuana Reform Means:
-Ending federal criminalization, expunging records, and supporting re-entry
-Expanding marijuana research and health education to address risks
-Creating jobs and protecting workers in the industry
-Prioritizing communities, small businesses, and entrepreneurs over corporate bottom-linesDemand marijuana reform grounded in health, safety, and reinvestment – not half-measures.
Tell your Senator to support the CAOA today and end federal marijuana criminalization.

Methadone is one of the most effective treatments for opioid addiction, yet federal law still limits access by making people to go through through specialty clinics. A new bipartisan bill would allow physicians to prescribe methadone directly through pharmacies, expanding access to life-saving care.

There are ways we can help people who use kratom & 7-OH to be safer: -Invest in addiction services -Expand access to healthcare options -Authorize overdose prevention centers on the state & local level -Fund research on kratom, 7-OH, & polysubstance use Explore sensible regulation of kratom & 7-OH

There are currently no medications specifically approved to treat kratom and 7-OH addiction. However, people may benefit from general substance use treatment, like counseling & support programs. Because high doses have opioid-like effects, medications for opioid addiction may help in some cases.

Drug Policy Alliance @drugpolicy.org · 04/05/2026
Can you overdose on kratom or 7-oh? Yes, though fatal overdoses from kratom use alone are rare. Most cases of kratom-involved deaths involve it being mixed with other drugs. Kratom and 7-OH appear to respond to naloxone (an overdose reversal medicine).
100
Drug Policy Alliance @drugpolicy.org · 04/05/2026
Are there medical uses of kratom and 7-oh? While kratom/7-OH are not approved for medical purposes, they're used by many for spiritual, religious, and medicinal purposes. Some people use them for pain, anxiety, or opioid withdrawal, but there isn't enough research to prove they're safe or effective.
100
Drug Policy Alliance @drugpolicy.org · 04/05/2026
Kratom is a plant that contains chemicals like mitragynine and 7-OH, which can cause a “high.” At low doses it can act like a stimulant and at higher doses it can act more like an opioid. Products with higher levels of 7-OH carry a higher risk of side effects, dependence, and overdose.

Real marijuana reform means ending federal criminalization and building a system based on health, safety, justice, and community investment. Rescheduling can’t do that. Descheduling—paired with Congressional action—can.
121
Drug Policy Alliance @drugpolicy.org · 23/04/2026
Rescheduling acknowledges marijuana’s medical value. It could also lift some research restrictions and boost corporate profits. Yet arrests, housing/job barriers & gaps in safety, labeling, worker protections would remain. We’re pushing for an end to federal criminalization + comprehensive reforms.

BREAKING: Trump’s admin has given another half-measure instead of real marijuana reform. Today, they announced they’re moving state-regulated medical marijuana products from Schedule I to III – and considering rescheduling all marijuana later. Keep reading to learn why this isn’t nearly enough. 🧵

Legalizing marijuana the “right way” means: ✅ Ending the federal criminalization of marijuana ✅ Using marijuana tax revenue for community supports (jobs, health services, parks etc.) ✅ Freeing marijuana prisoners & expunging their records ✅ Restoring benefits to people with a marijuana conviction
