Billy Bat has a solid concept that's fleshed out to a surprising extent in the first volume. Then it immediately starts getting really weird.

The more I read about AI, the more I think about Fahrenheit 451. Except instead of burning books, we're feeding them into an algorithm and, in some cases, mulching them afterwards.

I went to the concert with my tongue in my cheek but it actually kind of reignited my interest in the band? I haven't listened to practically anything since Midian but...I think I might actually like Screaming of the Valkyries??

Just a reminder for AZ that if you have a Republican on your school district's board, that person is leveraging their position to help pass multiple ballot initiatives that harm both public schools and students this November.

I don't remember exactly when I first experienced either of these films, but definitely the screaming heads scene in Return to Oz and also when Atreyu's horse dies in Neverending Story.

2046 was my introduction to Wong. I remember very little about it other than loose sci-fi and Christopher Doyle's cinematography but I will credit it for opening the door to his oeuvre.

I haven't seen it in years but the thing I do remember is that this is the kind of movie you put on and just let it wash over you, it is so leisurely and deliberate and beautiful. It's the definition of cinema. (Oh and Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung ARE SO GOOD LOOKING. My god.)

Saw this today and immediately told my wife, who's the household football fan. It's a pretty ready-made ad to be honest. Also this is my district so fingers crossed he takes a huge L next month!

Solid show! Donny Burbage & Joff Bailey absolutely shredding it. Dani Filth still screeching his vocal cords to death 🤘🏻 Super bummed that Moonspell had to drop out, one of my favorites, but Blackbraid is new to me and I really enjoyed their set. Fun to see a passing of the torch to next gen metal.

parents with school age children are not and should not be the only ones who materially support public schools. property taxes of many people without children are appropriately directed to public schools. each of us should be pouring into these schools in our own ways (giving of our time etc...)

It sucks to see El-Sayed running a strong campaign only to be continually undercut by the media. If MI loses a Senate seat, it will largely be because of the media's preoccupations. Meanwhile, any Republican can say the most bonkers propagandist shit & those same folks will nod along and move on.

I try my best to give space but I also awkwardly check in and/or ask questions? I grew up in the south & struggle with "being polite." I'm sure there's a happy medium. My daughter, however, is extremely interested in how things work and will set up shop nearby to watch.

I feel I was in middle school when I first encountered Rocky Horror, although I knew of it by reputation. I was home sick with flu. We had rented it & I watched, over & over again. I could say the lines; I could sing the songs. I still do today. A legend has now gone to that big RKO in the sky.

Tbh wish they had held off on the intro of you-know-who for a couple more episodes, because the setup conversation between Hal & Kerry is a great scene and works as effective foreshadowing. Pretty great deep-cut Mogo reference tho.

Part of me is like, "Wow I wish I could avoid these Lanterns spoilers," and the other part is like...who cares? Why do I care? How does it change my enjoyment of the show if I happen to know beforehand that a Green Lantern character appears in an episode of a Green Lantern TV show?

It's difficult not to see Image's reversal on Ellis as another corporation having decided the years of Me Too are long gone and "cancel culture" defeated, embracing the America of Trump as an unequivocal directive to make bad decisions without any sort of internal evaluation or ethical standards.

Moonspell also released a new album this year and it is very good for a band that's been around for over 30 years.

Drew Loves Comics @droosebumps.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

Reading some reviews that the second half is weak and the album is too long, with which I agree, but also that Repository isn't a good track. I honestly don't know how you can listen to it and not pick up on some of that classic 90s sound, which was the band at its best imo.

Despite a loss, the fact that Hong performed so well in a state like Wisconsin proves that the progressive movement continues to have undeniable momentum. And remember, the Stevens/AES race was close too; it just happened to go El-Sayed's way. Hong clearly has the talent to try again.
