I realized that my reading list was expanding much faster than my reading speed could keep up with. It became clear that I was falling behind in the literary world and would never be able to catch up. I could only explore a small portion of the vast mountain of literature that awaited me.

My cover this week. I grew up amid Manhattan’s monotonous grid and found the endless boxes, aligned along strict perpendiculars, overwhelming. As a child, the Guggenheim’s round form was my oasis,” Drooker said. “In a hectic, crowded metropolis, it was a breath of fresh air, a return to nature.

AI was meant to improve our lives. Instead, it has left us feeling scared and angry. Communities nationwide are protesting the construction of new data centers—the facilities that house the IT equipment behind AI development—and more often than not, they are winning. (Painting by Eric Drooker)

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed a man in a vehicle on Monday morning in Biddeford, Maine. It was the second fatal episode in a week, as the Trump administration continues its immigration crackdown.
