As a fan, it’s hard not to root for guys who have had to grind to find their footing and figure it out in the majors and Miguel Vargas is one of those guys. Spent more time in the minors than he should have bc he was w/ the dodgers, and then had a 0.8 WAR across 1100+ PAs before 2026.

I think people mistake the orioles’ lack of capital investment for a lack of ability when it comes to pitching development. They’re actually a very good pitching development organization. Bradish was not a high end prospect, saved Rogers’ career, BY, they pull relievers from thin air every year.

The idea of taking a pitch after 9 consecutive balls is to make the pitcher prove he’s not rick Ankiel mind-fucked. If the pitcher literally threw 3 strikes to the guy hitting in front of you, that’s a little different situation in terms how aggressive will you be on the first pitch.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
