£2.6bn worth and pays tax of £330m. Sounds a lot but that is 0.33bn or 12.7%. How much do you pay as a percentage of your earned income? It is closer to 30%. This is not a case for pandering to the wealthy but a case for making capital gains tax on unearned income equal to income tax.

It is not out of control and it is not even the largest part of the budget. Pensions are the largest and they will steadily increase as the population as a whole ages. It is difficult to see how disability payments will increase in this way.
