Colorectal cancer affects so many families, but the encouraging news is that your plate is one of the most powerful tools you have to often prevent it. This March, nourish your colon the same way you care for the rest of your health.

Macalester College still uses and kills rats in psychology courses even though most universities replaced animal labs years ago. Students don’t support this. 83% say animals shouldn’t be used when alternatives exist. Take Action: act.pcrm.org/xIh36Z8m5k2h...

Someone said veggies are unhealthy? 🚩 Science—and common sense—says otherwise. A plant-based diet supports long-term health and lowers disease risk. #PlantBased

The new Dietary Guidelines are a mixed bag. It’s great to see more emphasis on fruits, vegetables, and limiting saturated fat—but they still promote meat and dairy, which are the top sources of that very same fat. We can do better. Read our full response: www.pcrm.org/news/news-re...

Dr. Carrie Walters helped change history. Her voice and conviction played a critical role in ending cruel animal experiments, and her legacy continues to inspire the work we do.

As a physician, I’m concerned when we lump all “ultra-processed” foods together. Not all are harmful; many plant-based ones are actually linked to lower diabetes risk. The real issue isn’t processing; it’s what we’re processing. Read more: www.medpagetoday.com/opinion/seco...

A new Star Tribune letter to the editor echoes my concerns about outdated animal labs at Macalester. The harm doesn't stop at the lab rat—it can stay with students for life. Read the letter to the editor: www.startribune.com/readers-writ...

Yes, this change comes decades later than it should have. But it signals a future in which science can advance without unnecessary harm. It’s a future grounded in better data, stronger ethics, and smarter investment.

Some people like to supplement with natural oils, called EPA and DHA, in hopes of improving brain health. If you choose to do this, you can find plant-derived (vegan) EPA and DHA supplements without the fish.

Plant-based diets are good for the heart because they contain zero dietary cholesterol, have very little saturated fat, and are abundant in fiber.” by Dr. Neal Barnard of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM).

Text graphic with the message: “Cruciferous vegetables deserve special attention. Named for their cross-shaped flowers, this group includes broccoli, kale, collards, cabbage, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts, among others. While many people choose them for their highly absorbable calcium, they also have iron, fiber, traces of healthy omega-3 fats, and a special natural compound called sulforaphane that enhances your body's detoxing ability by boosting your liver enzymes that neutralize toxic compounds. Include them generously in your routine." from Dr. Neal Barnard.

I encourage everyone to replace animal products with these four nutritious powerhouses: fruits, grains, legumes, and vegetables.
The Physicians Committee’s Power Plate recommends consuming fruits,
vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Plant-based / vegan diets lower the risk for many
diseases, including obesity, heart disease, cancer, and stroke.
