Whelp, I guess that's RIP in peace for my palm plant that I planted, from a seed, during the Covid lockdown in 2020 A sudden high gust of wind just pushed the 30+kg pot off the balcony railing (onto my balcony, but still) :(

New anime, Summer 2026 The Ghost in the Shell (攻殻機動隊, Koukaku Kidoutai) Yeah, this is a completely different beast than the 1995 movie. Wildly different tone, but apparently far closer to the manga (which I haven't read) And with that, that's all my picks for this season's anime

New anime, Summer 2026 The Cat and the Dragon (猫と竜, Neko to Ryuu). This one actually already started last week on streaming services, a week ahead of the TV schedule It's a collection of stories around a dragon who's been raised by a cat. Cute and fluffy, for the most part

Seems like the show will be small snippets of her life. I guess because the manga is a yonkoma, a 4 panel comic They did go hard with the animation, though And I didn't expect the first two to be already this crude:

The landlord catches Yani undressing, you can see one breast showing from underneath her shirt

The landlord leaves

Still in her apartment, Yani suddenly feels sick after sticking a cigarette butt she found in a trash bag into her mouth

The landlord, back in his own apartment, "enjoys" the memory of seeing Yani undress

Yani sits on the toilet with diarrhea. You can see the (mosaic censored) shit stream shot from her butt into the toilet

New anime, Summer 2026! First up is Chainsmoker Cat (ヤニねこ, Yani Neko) A chainsmoking catgirl girlfailure. She lives in a dirty apartment, smokes all day, can't keep a job, a complete mess She has a sweet little sister though who worries about her. So she vows to stop smoking. But can she do it?

Poster cover for Chainsmoker Cat. The titular chainsmoking catgirl crouches to hold a cigarette into the camera, while her friends stand around her. It resembles a 90s album cover, probably deliberately

Even Google Translate is now using GenAI that rewrites more heavily I saw that recently when I threw in a post from patreon for a Japanese language learner's podcast, to double-check I got everything more or less (kanji still being a weak point for me)

That show really is just day drinking and lesbian yearning, yeah? Also, I guess, an ad for Japanese tourism and Japanese alcohol. These are all real places and real local drinks you can buy there The Chichibu beer exists, as does the Shouchuu, both of which the anime shows as is

Last new anime for me this season... and it's one I'm going to drop. But more on that later The anime is Ichijyoma Mankitsu Gurashi!, the romaji for 一畳間まんきつ暮らし. It's doesn't really have an English name and it's also not in Crunchyroll... more on that later

Another new anime: Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk (上伊那ぼたん、酔へる姿は百合の花, literally something like Kamiina Botan's drunk condition is a lily flower) Aka "drunk yuri". It's about a group of college students who drink alcohol and get flirty with each other when drunk

Last one for today: The Food Diary of Miss Maid It's about a maid who was born in Japan but lived in the UK since childhood, now she's in Japan for a year and wants to try all the food Basically a tourist guide for Japanese cuisine. Or maybe just street food? A whole bunch was in the first episode

Sven "DrMcCoy" Hesse @drmccoy.dmchome.de · 06/04/2026

Okay, I really like that theme they do, of using books, picture books and pop-up books. Very nice For example, they "transform" the end shot of the second episode into a pop-up book before fading to credits

Next up: Witch Hat Atelier (とんがり帽子のアトリエ, tongari boushi no atorie, literally Pointy Hat('s) Atelier) It's about a seamstress daughter who learns the secret of magic and becomes a witch

That single text is what the Life is Strange: Double Exposure romance amounts to in Reunion

Text messages between Amanda and Max in Life in Strange: Reunion, sent in the past (from before the game starts)

Amanda: "It's just, you and I get along so well. Sometimes I wonder why we broke up."
Max: "I know. I'm sorry we weren't quite right for each other. But you're still one of my favorite people in Lakeport."
Max: "And I'm really glad that we're friends. Assuming you still want to be friends."
Amanda: "Say no more. And, same to you."
