TODAY: There were 300-400 people at the vigil and protest at Rosa Parks Circle. Started at 3pm, attendance peaked around 3:30pm-4pm, and dwindled but was still going with maybe 50 people when I left around 4:45pm. (Pictures taken across the street, from a distance and without faces identifiable.)

TOMORROW: Protest & Vigil at Rosa Parks Circle from 3pm to 4pm. ICE is out of control. They killed Renée Good. They've kidnapped toddlers and kids. They killed Alex Pretti. All this in Minneapolis, in little over two weeks. The violence and lawlessness of ICE must end.
Graphic poster reading "SOLIDARITY WITH MINNESOTA — PROTEST AND VIGIL" with a stylized loon rising from water above the large, dripping letters "ICE OUT." A red text box says: "Minnesota is under occupation by ICE, CBP, and DHS. Join us as we stand in solidarity with Minnesota." Event details: "Sunday, January 25th, 2026, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Rosa Parks Circle." A dark blue box at the bottom reads: "Dress warmly! If you can, bring an extra hat, scarf, or gloves to donate. Bring a sign, or borrow a sign. Show up for Minnesota!" Colors are mainly dark blue and light blue with red and navy accent boxes.Graphic poster reading "SOLIDARITY WITH MINNESOTA — PROTEST AND VIGIL" with a stylized loon rising from water above the large, dripping letters "ICE OUT." Earth Prayer
Zoom in photo of a prayer card affixed to a refrigerator with a magnet, overlapping other random maps and cards on the refrigerator. The card design has text on the left side and macro zoom in of a fly collecting nectar from a bundle of flowers. The prayer card text reads, as follows:

---

EARTH PRAYER

All creatures and plants
are our family.
Earth is our home
and the mother
of our infinite siblings.
Clean water, fresh air,
and compassionate mind
are most precious.
To all this, I agree.

From now on,
I will consider
the health of the earth
as my own health
and I will cherish
the well being
of future generations.

This is my practice
of generosity
and morality!

This is my practice
of compassion!

Senator Gillibrand and Representative Jeffries, through their "alarmed" and "clarification" remarks, instead of baseline neutral acknowledgement of his win, contributed to this fascist escalation. My letter to the Senator and Minority Leader may be useful to other folks. See screenshot ALT text.
The Honorable Kirsten Gillibrand
United States Senate

The Honorable Hakeem Jeffries
House Minority Leader

Dear Senator Gillibrand and Representative Jeffries,

I'm writing to express my deep disappointment in your recent public statements regarding New York State Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani following his victory in the Democratic primary for New York City Mayor.

Rather than offering congratulations or respectful policy-based critique, your remarks contributed to an atmosphere of political stigmatization and racial suspicion. Senator Gillibrand, by drawing on Islamophobic language and framing Mamdani's views as aligned with "global jihad," and Representative Jeffries, by demanding "clarification" in a way that echoed bad-faith attacks, you legitimized a campaign of vilification that quickly escalated far beyond political discourse.

Your words, whether intended or not, lent credibility to a dangerous precedent: the use of citizenship status as a weapon against critics of U.S. foreign policy. Just days after your comments, the Trump campaign explicitly floated the idea of de-naturalizing Mamdani - a chilling echo of authoritarian tactics, and a signal to all naturalized citizens that their place in American civic life is conditional.

Assemblymember Mamdani's political positions - particularly his criticisms of the Israeli government's actions in Gaza - are shared by millions of Americans. Dissent is not a threat; it is a constitutional right. To conflate criticism of state violence with extremism, or to treat it as grounds for questioning someone's legitimacy as a citizen, is to betray that fundamental principle.

Not as a constituent but as a fellow American, I urge you to reconsider your posture toward Zohran Mamdani. You owe him and New Yorkers - all Americans, a public correction of the record - and a clear rejection of the xenophobic, anti-democratic forces that are seeking to punish him not for misconduct, but for his courage.

Respectfully,
Andrew Collins

Public comment ends TODAY regarding COVID vaccine policy! regulations.gov/commenton/FD... Check out the ALT text on image for my public comment.
While it's true that some individuals may choose not to use certain vaccines -- for personal, medical, or philosophical reasons -- that should not restrict availability for others. Once a vaccine has met rigorous safety standards, access should be guided by the needs and desires of those who wish to protect themselves and their families.

In a free society, we must trust people to make informed decisions about their own health. Ensuring broad access empowers individuals, respects autonomy, and supports public health without imposing one-size-fits-all mandates. Let choice, not restriction, shape our public health policy.

Submit a public comment opposing SpaceX's expansion from 50 rocket launches to *120*! #TeslaTakedown See ALT text of these two images for my submitted public comment (1/2 and 2/2).
Subject: Public Comment - Oppose Expansion of SpaceX Operations Due to Repeated Environmental Violations

Dear Federal Aviation Administration,

I strongly urge the FAA to deny any expansion or continued authorization of SpaceX operations - particularly launches involving its Starship platform - until full environmental reviews are completed, violations are addressed, and enforceable safeguards are in place.

SpaceX's Environmental Record Is Irrefutably Alarming

Recent investigations by NBC News, The New York Times, and U.S. PIRG have revealed a disturbing pattern of regulatory violations, ecological destruction, and public endangerment:

Clean Water Act violations: SpaceX discharged industrial wastewater into Texas waters at least four times between March and July 2024, without required permits (TCEQ & EPA findings).

Toxic pollutants, including mercury: According to SpaceX's own filings, its deluge water system discharged mercury at levels over 50 times higher than the state's acute toxicity threshold - a potential neurological hazard for fish, wildlife, and human communities.

Wildlife habitat destruction: Rocket launches have caused fires, explosions, and debris that damaged protected areas near Boca Chica, endangering migratory birds and sea turtles, including federally listed species.

Atmospheric and orbital pollution: SpaceX's projected mega-constellation of 40,000+ satellites will add 29 tons of burning metal into the atmosphere daily, according to U.S. PIRG - threatening the ozone layer, Earth's magnetosphere, and overall climate stability.

Failure to act in good faith: After receiving EPA violation notices in March 2024, SpaceX proceeded with its third Starship launch the next day without correcting or even acknowledging its permit failures.

1/2This Is a Pattern of Negligence, Not Innovation

SpaceX has demonstrated a blatant disregard for environmental law, safety standards, and democratic public accountability - all while receiving favorable treatment from agencies responsible for protecting the public and environment.

We cannot allow a private company, no matter how ambitious or politically influential, to erode the rule of law and degrade our planet's health. The harm is not hypothetical - it is documented, ongoing, and accelerating.

I Urge the Following Actions:

1. Suspend all new launch or expansion permits for SpaceX until independent Environmental Impact Statements are completed under NEPA and made public.

2. Rescind the FCC's categorical exclusion for satellite mega-constellations from environmental review.

3. Pursue full enforcement actions against SpaceX for past and ongoing Clean Water Act and air pollution violations, including civil penalties and, if warranted, criminal investigations.

4. Require public hearings and environmental justice assessments before any further project approvals in vulnerable ecosystems like South Texas or coastal Florida.

Space exploration must not be allowed to trample Earth's ecosystems and communities. We still have time to change course - but only if regulatory agencies fulfill their mandate to protect the public interest, not corporate convenience.

Sincerely,

Andrew Collins
Grand Rapids, Michigan

Dear Senator Winnie Brinks, Thank you for your leadership and commitment to making Michigan a more equitable and inclusive state! ...
Dear Senator Winnie Brinks,

Thank you for your leadership and commitment to making Michigan a more equitable and inclusive state!

Your dedication to advancing measures like HB5300, HB5301, HB5302, and HB5303 -- even though HB5301 and HB5302 couldn't cross the finish line -- reflects a steadfast commitment to fairness and justice for all Michiganders, especially our LGBTQ+ community.

By addressing systemic barriers and fostering dignity and recognition for all individuals, you are helping to ensure that Michigan remains a place where everyone can thrive.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Andrew Collins

Thank you for this alert. Letter sent! Image ALT text contains my letter.
Dear Senator Winnie Brinks,

I am writing to express my strong support for the equality bills currently awaiting action in the Senate, including HB5300, HB5301, HB5302, and HB5303. These measures represent a critical step toward fairness and justice for all Michiganders, particularly for our LGBTQ+ community. It is imperative that they move forward without further delay.

As bill sponsor Rep. Laurie Pohutsky (D-Livonia) stated, "It comes down to basic humanity ... and not treating certain segments of our population different than everyone else." These bills embody that principle, and their passage would address significant barriers that many individuals face.

... [Details about HB5300-HB5303 removed.] ...

These measures are not just about modernizing administrative processes -- they are about acknowledging the dignity and humanity of all Michiganders. Ensuring that everyone has equitable access to identification and legal recognition is fundamental to fostering a more inclusive Michigan.

I urge you to resolve any outstanding issues and work collaboratively to ensure the passage of this critical legislation. By doing so, Michigan can demonstrate its commitment to equality and justice for all its residents.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your dedication to creating a more equitable state.

Sincerely,

Andrew Collins

Call script with [NAME], [CITY-ZIP-CODE], and [REP-NAME] for caller's name, caller's city/ZIP code, and caller's Representative.

# Introduction

Hello, my name is [NAME], and I'm a constituent from [CITY-ZIP-CODE].

# State Your Purpose

I'm calling to strongly urge Representative [REP-NAME] to change their position and vote NO on HR 9495, the so-called "Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act," when it comes up for a vote tomorrow morning at 10 AM.

# Your Position

I was deeply disappointed to see that Representative [REP-NAME] previously voted in favor of this dangerous legislation. HR 9495 would give the executive branch sweeping, unchecked power to revoke the tax-exempt status of nonprofits without accountability or public justification. This authority could be weaponized to silence dissent and target nonprofits advocating for social justice, human rights, environmental protection, and other vital causes.

As media outlets have reported, the bill uses vague definitions of terrorism that risk criminalizing advocacy work and stifling organizations operating in conflict zones like Gaza or those challenging systemic injustices. Internationally respected groups, including Oxfam and Amnesty International, have warned of the chilling effect this legislation would have on nonprofits working to hold powerful actors accountable.

# Call to Action

A vote for HR 9495 is a vote to erode democracy, free speech, and civil liberties. I urge Representative [REP-NAME] to reconsider their previous vote and stand with their constituents by voting NO tomorrow morning. Protecting the independence of nonprofits and defending democratic principles is essential.

# Closing

Thank you for your time and for Representative [REP-NAME]'s service to our community. I will be closely watching how they vote on this critical issue tomorrow.
