Forgot I had this account. Kind of hassle to use it now since I have to jump several programs from my normal browser. Really don't like the whole 'police state' spying on you this country is becoming. You always read and hear about the fall of countries, never think you'd live through it though.

So I had a medical procedure so don't expect much from me this week. Also, have you guys seen the new season of Tanya the Evil? That opening and ending themes are gorgeous. Shame it took us almost 10 years for them to finally grow enough of a spine to make it.

Call me a hater because I never got into SpongeBob, but that is actually a really fucking cool Miku and I want it. They're all awesome.

I've made 2 pints and it was freaking delicious. I also bought two more pint cups for a total of 5. So now I can really just make mass mixes and throw them in the freezer.

Even being familiar with it the original myself it can still be a bit jarring to see the comical takes from the characters that we usually aren't accustomed too. I think its good to finally get the original series in animated though, but yes. I was taken back by how goofy they can be sometimes.

Because most people's first experience with Ghost in the Shell was NOT the 89 manga but the 1995 feature film, which inspired the tone and feel for much of the series life after that point. It is also the world many want a return too despite 2026 being an actual and true 'return to form'.

While I can understand the complaints of some 'purists' as this is NOT the dark, gritty, cyberpunk action drama of our forefathers, BUT it also does not feel like a lazy cash grab done with no respect. There is a lot of effort and care being put into this even if its a bit... 'modernized'.

100

Borr, CEO of Tanks @drillkingborr.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

While well animated and not shy about its levels of violence and or its exploitation of the Major's ass It does feel more 'on the head' with its messaging and plot. Almost like it doesn't trust its viewers as much as older generations did. Also, its a reboot and not a continuation.

New 'Ghost in the Shell' feels... odd. With a brighter color palette and facial expressions that feel more cartoony 80s anime (think Lupin or Cutie Honey) the show gives a very different vibe than pervious entries. Like someone combined Masamune Shirow style with Go Nagai's or even Kazuhiko Katō.

Makoto doesn't give a fuck if the beautiful girl with the tragic past gets gutted after he wrecks her and leaves her for dead. He's very "Ainz" in how he doesn't care about the people he decides to kill.

Borr, CEO of Tanks @drillkingborr.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

Sofia's death in Tsukimichi was a god damn tragedy imo. Such an interesting and beautiful character just killed, but its also something we kind of expect. A hero like Hibiki might have tried to save her, but the story makes it clear that Makoto (our MC) is NOT a hero. Not a bad guy, but not a hero.

I bought an ice cream maker. It was on sale and it comes out to just $50 a month for 3 months. At that price I figured its a decent investment.

This is so troublesome. Fuck surveillance state, fuck this site, and fuck big tech. Protect the kids my ass. More like harvest their info and sell them to wherever they plan on setting the new island at. No common person supports this law yet it still got passed with no opposition.

So many new things that are actually interesting. AHH, I wish I had some silly, cute, but mildly slutty vtuber model so I could rant about anime for half an hour a day and get paid for it. That be the life... Maybe like 3x a week and not everyday, we'd run out of anime.

A Livid Lady's Guide to Getting Even, a dark fantasy where the heroine decides to NOT be the better person, with bloody results. Oh I almost forgot, NEW Ghost in the Shell has also just been officially dropped. I don't know of New Ghost is a continuation, reboot, or AU but it looks gorgeous.

With returning titles we're getting a whole host of new ones, both good and bad, that I can't even cover here in these tiny posts. Flaming Dodgeball Girl Danko comes onto the scene, continuing the story of her father with absurd but high energy take on dodgeball.

If we're talking about returning shows it be rude to forget "Trapped in a Dating Sim", the iseaki twist romcom, is also getting its season 2 release. While perhaps not as anticipated as the previous titles it is still a strong name in returning titles for summer releases.

As mentioned before S2 of "Skeleton Knight in Another World" is also being released. Another huge hit from from 2022 and finally released on the world. Clevatess S2 also just dropped for those who like their androgynous femboy MCs to be secretly be op monsters.

Oh wow, I know summer anime releases aren't usually the big but this year is starting off strong with the return of some big names. I think the biggest is the long awaited second season of 'The Sage of Tanya the Evil', first airing in January of 2017! Almost 10 years later she's finally back.

Quite the emotional roller-coaster of good intentions. So its in a nut-shell, "What if Cinderella's step-family was actually nice" and its very wholesome story so far. I'm not sure how far this concept can go as a story, but I have high hopes. Source: My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked

I bought the Amy Rose which I thought was really cute. I kind of want to buy the Blaze as Starfire but it seems to be only being made as a combo unit. So its stupidly priced plus the Starfire figure looks kind of cheap and ugly. I'm hoping they make a single with a larger more detailed Blaze.

Your incentive to give two fucks about this boring half hour. At least its still more animation than Monster Eater or One Punchman S3. You can look at the anime cover and tell exactly what type of series it is. Yup, one of those. Source: The World's Strongest Rearguard

Even the boring anime with 20 minutes of useless info dump based on a city of dead people who raid dungeons just because(?) has slavery in them. Just why? Everyone is already fucking dead and its not like you've done anything to established a governing body. Shield-Hero you are not, please stop.

This bland, milktoast fuck is way to calm for a guy who just died, was shoved into a reincarnation hole, and just got the 5 minute orientation course. Really, I someone needs to slap the God of Earth for selling Earth souls to other dimensions for cheap.

I know its a dark revenge story but if I had a nickle for every time a writer decided to behead a cute little girl who was completely innocent well... I'd have more than two nickles for sure which is fucked up because it means it happens somewhat often. A Livid Lady's Guide to Getting Even, Chp 16

In this era of more accurate translations for anime just want to point to some of the gems the wild west of localization gave us in the 80s. For one, the eng opening of Captain Harlock by the amazing Mark Mercury, the literal composer of many songs from our youth. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTUA...

Why bother making a character undead if you're just going to... fix them right after?

000

Borr, CEO of Tanks @drillkingborr.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Thankfully "Skeleton Knight in Another World" S2 just started airing and this anime is awesome! I just love stories that embrace the the character's undead nature and treats it as an actual trait to build on rather than something to 'correct' as soon as possible.

130

Borr, CEO of Tanks @drillkingborr.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Undead King, a story that is more interesting to read than listen to and that tends to drone on a bit in a simplified fantasy world was at least a bit more creative in its MC monster design and route with a unique rendition of Mimic. He's not Undead anymore though so... title is kind of bunk.

000

Borr, CEO of Tanks @drillkingborr.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Thankfully it did not become "The Unwanted Undead Adventurer" (AKA Nozomanu Fushi) though it was very similar, but similar things are not the same. While many like Nozomanu Fushi more I always found the 'become a vampire' thing very cheesy and cheap. Vampire is SUCH a lazy undead choice.

Borr, CEO of Tanks @drillkingborr.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Skeleton to Ghoul? Red flag! Do not become a vampire! Do not become a vampire! Do not become a vampire!

I'm not sure if its the AI Voice not saying it right or the AI Voice to Text not writing it right, but this man's name is either Chewbacca or Jewbacca. Both cause me to question the name system of this comic.
