"Anyone can contribute" is not the same as "everyone has the same opportunity to contribute". AI could reduce the privilege of free time in Open Source, but only if access and skill become shared, not private advantages. I wrote about it in dri.es/the-privileg... #opensource #ai

I tested 12 LLMs to generate alt-text for 9,000 images missing descriptions. Not surprisingly, cloud models performed best. For local options, Llama variants and MiniCPM-V were ok. Local models align with my values, but cloud models would serve visually impaired users better. dri.es/generating-i...
