05. REFACTOR #inktober #drawtober

Ink and tone drawing.

A figure with a vacant expression, pulling back the skin of their ribs to reveal a tangle of flesh, machinery, and wiring underneath. A sprawl of ASCII-esque lettering and numbering is formed in the lower right corner, vaguely spelling out “HIDE” and “HIDDEN”. Their hair is a mess; their one visible eye is glitched into multitudes across the piece.

The problem though is A24 is in a precarious state. One more “Smashing Machine” sized-flop could very well tank the studio. Still now is the best time for smaller studios to get into theaters, don’t surrender the multiplexes to Angel films!

When I first started posting content, scammers were offering $500 for commissions. Now they’re only offering $100. Even the conmen stopped valuing artists

I finished my big illustration for my book! I think it’s a bit hard to see on a screen but I’m really happy with how it turned out. It works as both an illustration and a map/guide to the towers.

You’re stronger than me. I haven’t been able to consistently engage with that platform even though it’s a precondition to get considered for art markets around here. It’s just so bad now

Wondering if I should re-engage with Instagram. The galleries and art directors never left and are still chasing clout there like it’s 2020.

There’s definitely a phenomenon where critics get tired of a genre well before audiences do and then miss, or worst pander, good films that arrived late in their cycles. It happened with Film Noir, Westerns, Action Films, Rom-Coms, and probably super hero films today
